Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 123 : I have a dream!
Introduction |
|---|
So today i will be talking about a dream so dear to my heart which is Tech related. I graduated from a film school but then tech has always been someone dear to my heart.
Share a personal dream with us. Just be real in your writing (life, career, family, society, or nation) |
|---|
One of the dreams I have and always had is venturing into tech and becoming a cloud and DevOps engineer. One who secures and maintains systems that power real-world experience, and I really wished I was exposed from an early stage in life. But then the desire to know how things work and ar done behind the scene Gingerd me.
I am really wowed by how it is done in the world of tech to serve millions of users, how data is protected in the cloud, and how automation reduces human error while still serving its purpose. Cloud and DevOps engineering represents the strength of technology but the it id unknown to most users, but also very important. I want to be part of those that the world will see as the strengthto success. I want to build infrastructures that don’t fail people when they need them most. Yes, you heard me right, and I know it's going to be possible.
This dream and vision is also my desire to contribute to society. In a country like my own, where systems fail, healthcare platforms go down, government services are inefficient, businesses struggle with lack or no quality infrastructure, and also maintenance. I want to be skilled enough to help fix these problems. I don’t just want to be a user I want to build, secure, and improve it.
My dream is not just about bearing that name tech Girl. But someone who creates stability, trust, and growth.
Why is this dream important to you? |
|---|
This dream matters to me because it represents freedom, purpose, and transformation for my life, my family, and my community.
In our world today, where many people are struggling just to survive, having a skill that is recognized worldwide means being able to earn honestly, consistently, and with dignity. It means not being held down by circumstances beyond my control. It means being able to plan and see the future rather than just going with the present.
And also I want to be able to support my family by reducing financial stress and eventually create opportunities for humanity the way I wish someone had created for me. Success for me is not just being popular or a celebrity it is being dependable, responsible, present and being able to give back to my community.
People think it's actually easy, but as a cloud and DevOps engineer, you are a problem solver, an innovative thinker, and an impact on society. It is not about doing magic; it is about designing systems, thinking critically, and continuously improving processes. I succeed in environments that challenge me to learn and adapt, and this field demands exactly that.
What challenges are standing in the way between you and your dream? |
|---|
One of the biggest challenges standing between me and my dream is lack of access to proper tools and limited finances. And i believe that majority of great and talented individuals out there are hindered from fulfilling their dreams is because of this. Especially people in the less developed world.
Cloud and DevOps engineering is hands on thing with continuous learning. Learning is not just about reading or watching videos; it requires constant practicals, setting up virtual machines, deploying, configuring networks, managing permissions, automating pipelines, and securing environments and above all troubleshooting wether you like it or not. There are days I find myself troubleshooting for over 24 hours just to get a system configured.
Without a personal laptop, learning for me becomes so so difficult. I often have to depend on borrowing devices from friends and neighbors or not having an option at all, and this slows down my learning process.
Secondly, Financial constraints also affect my ability to pay for learning resources such as certifications, and stable internet access. Some resources are actually free, while some are not and in other to be successful you must practicalize and carry out experiments that still costs money.
These factors have really slowed down my learning process. Another factor i forgot to mention is emotional pressure. Yes you heard me. Seeing others' friends and colleagues progressing because they have better equipment sometimes makes me so emotional and teary. Sometimes I doubt myself, I become frustrated, and I experience exhaustion. But then I remind myself that comparison is unfair when starting points are different.
Despite everything I have gone through, I refuse to give up. Giving up is never an option.
What are you doing (or hope to do) to achieve this big dream? |
|---|
Even with limited resources, I am actively doing what I can to move forward.
Firstly, at the moment I want to secure myself another job where I can work and raise money to get some of the things I need, like a working laptop and Internet, and then dedicate at least 3 hours every day to practicalize and equip myself.
I will ensure to stay connected to learning communities and discussions related to tech and online platforms that expose me to real-world problems and solutions.
And also document my learning journey through writing and posting on my social media handles especially LinkedIn. I usually do that but for a while i stopped because i didn't have the zeal to do so and I believe reflection is a powerful learning tool.
I invite @lilly1, @entity01 and @us-andrew to participate in this contest.
