Hello everyone this is me @isha-esha rehman hope you all are doing well. Growing up horror movies were a strict no for me. I avoided them like a plague. The dark atmosphere sudden jump scares disturbing sounds and terrifying visuals always stayed with me longer than I wanted. Watching horror usually meant sleepless nights racing thoughts and unnecessary fear. Because of this I developed a strong dislike for the horror genre and stuck comfortably to drama action and the occasional comedy.

However this weeks Genre Flip challenge pushed me to step outside my comfort zone. I decided to face my long standing fear by watching a horror movie titled Bring Her Back. To be honest i approch it with the hesittation already prepering myself for regrest. But surpricingly the experience turnd out to be much deepr than i expected

Task 1

The reason i usually avoided horror movies is simple: they overwhelm me emotionlly. I don’t enjoying being be scared fo r entertainment and most to horror films i am encounterred growing up the focused heavily on goore and shocke value rather than the storyteling. I associatted to the genre with loud screams pointless violence and disturbing images that ofered little to substance.

Task 2

Bring Her Back challenged that assumption. Instead of relyin soleely on jumping to scares the movie leaned the heavily into psychologicall horror and emotiional tension. The story revolve around to grief of loss and the dangerous lengths people go to when they refuse to the let go the past. Rather than terrifying me with the constant scares to the film slowly built uneases making me uncomfurtable in a thoughtfful way.

Task 3

Did the move change my mind about horor? Partialy yes. While i still wouldn’t cal myself the horror fan Bring Her Back show me that not all horror movies is the same. Some are thoughtful emotional and story-driven rather than purely frightening. It confirmmed that i dislike excesiv gorre but it also to opend my eye to the psychological sid of horror which i fouond surprisangly meningful.

Task 4

What surprised me most was how emotionally engaging the movie was. I found myself empathizing with the characters especially their pain and desperation. The horror wasn’t just external—it came from within the characters themselves. The film explored how unresolved grief can twist the human mind and that made the story feel realistic and haunting at the same time.

Another surprising element was the cinematography and sound design. Instead of loud sudden noises every few minutes the movie used silence effectively. The quiet moments were often more terrifying than the loud ones. This approach kept me on edge but didn’t overwhelm me which made the experience more tolerable and even intriguing.##

Task 5

Did the movie change my mind about horror? Partially yes. While I still wouldn’t call myself a horror fan Bring Her Back showed me that not all horror movies are the same. Some are thoughtful emotional and story-driven rather than purely frightening. It confirmed that I dislike excessive gore but it also opened my eyes to the psychological side of horror which I found surprisingly meaningful.

Task 6

Would I try more movies from this genre in the future? Yes but selectivaly. I would be wiling to explure more psychological or slow burn horror films that focus on storytelling rather than shock value. This challenge taught me that stepping out of my comfort zone does not always lead to discomfort sometimes it leads to discovery.

In conclusion Genre Flip did the exactly what it were meant to do. It pushe me to confronted the long-held fear and to discover the new perspective. Bring Her Back didnt just scar me it made me think to reflect and to understand why horror exists as thr genre. While it hasnt complettely converted me it has definitely softened my stanse and that for me as a win.
