Today I will share a movie review with you all. And the name of this movie is The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind. This movie was released in 2019. This movie is about a little boy. Who uses his intelligence to save his village and the people of the village from famine. At the beginning of this story, a small village in South Africa was shown. Since there was no rain for many days in that village, they could not produce any crops. Due to which people started fighting with each other due to lack of food. Then William and his family were shown. Despite being very poor, his father gave his sister and him education. Then he went to school wearing a new dress. His father was very happy to see that. And he went to school with his friend. After the school holidays, his school science teacher talked about the school's salary. Because he had not paid his salary for many months. Because they were very poor. That teacher also told him that the principal sir might throw him out if he did not pay his salary.

Meanwhile, they were so poor that they did not even have money to buy kerosene oil to inform the house about hurricanes at night. That is why he used to do his school homework during the day. And since his father worked in agriculture, he also helped his father. Because of which he could not do his homework most of the time. And because of all these things, he used to get very bad results. However, since childhood, he was very interested in electrical things. He could fix small things himself. And through this, he used to earn some money and help the people of the village. One day, he and his friend went to a garbage dump. There he found a battery, a ceiling fan, etc. Seeing that battery, he realized that he could fix it. So he took it home. Meanwhile, while he was going home after chatting with his friends at night, he saw the science teacher and his sister together. He tried to understand that matter better. Then he and his friend decided to break the science teacher's bicycle. As a result, the teacher would not be able to meet his sister anymore.

And the next day, when he went to break the bicycle, he was very scared. Then he saw a light on the bicycle. Which lit up without any electricity. Meanwhile, due to lack of money, the villagers sold a forest of theirs to traders. Then they cut down all the trees from that forest. And because of this forest, their village had not had any floods for a long time. After the trees in that forest were cut down, a terrible flood occurred in their village. As a result, all their crops were destroyed. Then, when everything was fine, they went to harvest again. But then due to excessive drought, their crops did not grow. Meanwhile, the principal had thrown William out of school again. But he wanted to learn a lot by studying. That is why he blackmailed the science teacher and took the opportunity to study in the school library. Today, he is afraid of electronics there. And in the midst of this, he wanted to generate electricity in his village and use it to build a cesspool pump. Because their village suffers from drought most of the time.

One day, while studying in the library, the principal saw him. That is why he forbade him from coming to the school area. Meanwhile, his father talked to the village headman about these issues. And the village headman called the government people and explained these issues. But instead of helping them, they beat the village headman a lot. Meanwhile, everyone's harvest has been very low due to drought. These crops will last for a few months. For this, his father sold the rice from the house. And with that money, he decided to buy some more food. Meanwhile, due to the food crisis, the government increased the price of food. And the people of the village started crying for food. And for this, almost many people of their village went to protest against the government. William's father also went among them. One day, two trucks full of food were seen coming to the village. Then William's mother gave William some of the money she had saved. And asked him to bring food from the food godown.

But such a small amount of food would not be enough for all the people of the village. That's why everyone started fighting with each other. Meanwhile, William stood in line from outside and went inside the godown without taking the food. On the other hand, some food stored in their house was forcibly taken from his mother by others. Meanwhile, William and those who were with him entered the godown and came out from the back by cutting a tin. Because if they went through the front, they would take away their food. Then everyone who went to the protest came and saw that everyone was fighting due to lack of food. Meanwhile, William's house had only 15 kg of food. With which they would not be able to last for long. That is why they thought of eating once a day. Still, there would not be enough food for everyone. That is why his father did not eat. And gave food to his own children. On the other hand, William had a pet dog. Which he loved very much.

That is why he kept some food for the dog. One day, his father saw this and talked to him a lot. Meanwhile, his sister ran away with the science teacher. Because the rest of his family would be able to eat her share of the food. Meanwhile, he was constantly researching electronic devices. He wanted to save his villagers from such a drought. That's why he blackmails his sister and asks her to bring him the dynamo of the science teacher's bicycle. And her sister brings it to him. Then he starts researching everything with his friends. And they make a small machine. That's why he shows it to his father. And tells his father everything about it. And to make a bigger version of it, he wants his father's bicycle. But his father talks a lot to him, and doesn't agree to give him his own bicycle. He thinks that maybe he wants to take it for playing. That's why he decides to steal his father's bicycle with his friends.

But his father sees it. And he starts beating them all. And everyone runs away because of his fear. Meanwhile, his beloved dog also dies due to lack of food. And one by one many people in the village start dying. That's why his father gives his bicycle to William. Because if there are no people in the village, what will he do with his bicycle? Then William, with the help of his father, builds a very big machine in the village. And here, along with his father, everyone in the village helps him. As a result, water is being pumped by generating electricity with the help of wind. And through this, they are able to produce crops. Seeing this, his father became very happy. And so did everyone in the village. Everyone was very happy to see his success. Since then, they have been able to produce crops there all the time. Since then, there has been no more food shortage.

What new perspective or culture did this movie introduce you to?

This film introduced me to a new perspective. Especially the issue of food. They suffered so much for a handful of food that I felt very bad just watching it. I would not have understood how important a handful of food is to a person without watching this movie. I think whoever watches this movie will be introduced to a new perspective. Every person in this village has fought a lot for food. They have also fought a lot with themselves.

Were there any stereotypes challenged or broken in the film?

Here, the idea that African countries mean poverty and helplessness has been broken. Here, despite having limited resources, they have not used them intelligently. Also, the stereotype that rural children cannot do anything has been challenged. No matter what a person is like, if he tries to do something using his intelligence, he will definitely be able to. Even the idea that nothing good can be done from a poor family has been broken here.

Which character's journey did you relate to the most?

Here I related the most to the journey of William's character. He never gave up and tried his best. I felt his curiosity, his desire to learn something new, his never-give-up mentality. I liked every step he took. With his own efforts, he was finally able to save his village and the people of the village. I related more to his success in the end.

What’s one message from the film that stuck with you?

Many messages from this movie have stuck in my mind. But the one that stuck in my mind the most is the idea of not giving up. Giving up means stopping there. No matter what a person is like or what position they are in, if they try, they can do a lot. That's why it's more important to believe in yourself and try. This message has stuck in my mind a little more throughout this movie.
