SLC-S29/W3-“Thinking and Ideas!| Seeing Problems Differently!”
Identify one everyday problem in your community or country and explain some steps in solving it.
The everyday problem in my community and country is waste management and littering.
There is no proper disposal of waste in my community and this has been the challenge we are facing which is leading to environmental pollution, health issues, and aesthetic decline in public spaces.
Steps in Solving this problem
Raising awareness: I will educate residents about the importance of proper waste disposal and the environmental impact of littering.
Implementing strict laws: I will enforce fines and penalties for anyone who is caught littering waste so others can be discouraged.
Providing adequate facilities: I will increase the number of trash bins, and recycling stations in public areas to keep my community neat.
Community involvement: I will involve people in my community to organise clean up and encourage local participation in maintaining cleanliness.
Promoting composting and recycling: I will encourage sorting waste at the source to reduce landfill overflow in my community.
Why do you think this problem still exists despite many people noticing it?
I think this problem still exists despite many people noticing it because of a combination of a lack of awareness, laziness, weak enforcement of laws, and sometimes insufficient infrastructure. Another thing that makes change slow is cultural attitudes and habits which a person would either say I am bigger in cleaning out the community or I'm not from this place.
In your opinion, what is the most misunderstood part of this problem?
The most misunderstood part of this problem is that many people believe that littering is a minor issue or someone else's responsibility. People in my community often underestimate how much their small act of littering contributes to larger environmental problems.
If you could change one mindset related to this issue, what would it be?
If I could change one mindset related to this issue, it would be to foster a sense of collective responsibility. People should see cleanliness not just as an individual preference but as a shared duty to protect their environment and community.
