The Diary Game: Job Interview That Took Almost the Whole Day [03/08/2026]

So, yesterday, my elder sister called and told me about an Admin Personnel role at one of her husband’s friend/client’s offices and asked me to go and check it out.

She asked me to wait for her husband to send me the address. Unfortunately, immediately after my call with her ended, my phone went off because the battery was completely drained, and my power bank was also down.

Before my phone went off, I had already told her about it so that if I didn't show up at the place, they wouldn't think I was unserious or uninterested. Since I couldn't receive the address her husband sent, I couldn't go anymore.

So, today, I decided to go.

I left home a few minutes past 9 a.m. I didn't eat before leaving because I thought it would be something quick. I got to the office a few minutes before 10 a.m., but the person I went to see wasn't in the office yet, so I had to wait.

Some time later, another lady joined me. She had her own interview the previous day and had been asked to come back today.

The man eventually arrived a few minutes before 12 noon. After a while, I was asked to see him, and the interview started in earnest.

I was given a series of tests based on my claimed areas of expertise, and I did all of them to the best of my ability.

While I was still doing the first test, my phone went off, and unfortunately, I wasn't with my charger. So, when I eventually finished all the tests given to me, I was happy and thought I would soon be on my way home.

But little did I know!

The man asked me to wait. And wait I did.

Much later, I had another interview with another staff member, followed by another period of waiting, and then yet another test.

At this point, I had no idea that Mama and some other people had already started getting worried about me because they had called several times but couldn't reach me on the phone.

I was finally released a few minutes past 6 p.m., with a promise that they would call me. I got home a few minutes before 7 p.m.

When I got home, I didn't meet Mama. I thought she had gone to church, not knowing that she had gone to report the situation to my Pastor because I had promised to return early and was now unreachable.

As soon as I got home, I quickly plugged my phone into my power bank, which still had 24% battery left, and switched on my phone.

I warmed some food and started eating because I had already developed a hunger-induced headache.

Immediately, my Pastor's call came in. I answered it. Then my Youth President called, followed by my elder sister.

I had to explain why I had been unreachable before everyone could finally have peace of mind.

I also called Mama to let her know that I was back. That was when she told me that she was at my Pastor's place.

A few minutes after I finished eating, Mama came home.

What I thought would be a quick interview turned into almost the whole day!

It was definitely an experience I won't forget anytime soon and the 3rd longest interview session I've ever had.
