It is time for a movie, and there's a particular one that I never get tired of watching, because of a single decision in the movie and the actions that follow.

Movie Title: "Avengers: Infinity War".

The idea I have shared about this movie is very clear. In answering the question about the single decision in the movie that changed everything and what I have done differently from watching the movie and how I feel, here is what I have to say.

The one single decision that changed everything in the movie was Star-Lord (Peter Quill) who lost control and got to attack Thanos at the time he found out about the death of Gamora. At that point, the Avengers went to the extent of removing the infinity Gauntlet from Thanos.

Although, it didn't work out, if they had succeeded, in removing the Infinity Gauntlet from Thanos, the whole outcome of the movie and universe wouldn't have been the same, there would have been a different outcome.

The emotional reaction of the Star-Lords was what broke out their plan, which allowed Thanos to regain full control and wipe out half of all life after gaining control.

After watching the movie and even as I would still watch the movie again someday, what I would have done differently, is that I would have stayed focused on the mission, no matter how painful the truth was to me.

The stakes of Star-Lords were too high, even though his reaction was human and also understandable, but if it were to be me, I would have done the following differently:

  • I would have controlled my emotions for a while

  • I would have allowed the team to finish removing the gauntlet

  • I would have dealt with grief after stopping Thanos.

I would do all of that because leadership delaying personal feelings for the greater good as a leader is much more important than acting on my personal feelings alone.

Logically I feel wrong to me, but emotionally, I feel right.

I feel wrong logically because the action of the Syat-Lords led to failure. This is because millions of lives were at stake, and his loss of control cost everyone under him the victory that they almost had.

The reason why I feel emotionally right is that Star-Lord wasn't aware that the love of his life was killed, he learned about it lately. So to this, his reaction was real, raw, and human. A lot of people including someone like me would struggle to stay calm.

Moral lessons:
The moral lesson here is that our best plans can be outweighed when we make an emotional decision at the wrong time.
