Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 139: Is Experience The Best Teacher?
Hello, friends welcome to my post in which I have discussed "Is Experience The Best Teacher? Share with us your thoughts" as part of my participation in this contest
In your understanding, kindly define "Experience".
In my understanding, "Experience" is the active process by which a person acquires skills, knowledge, or insights through direct participation, observation, or living through events.
Experience is a theoretical knowledge that is transformed into practical knowledge, enabling a person to possess sound wisdom. Those with experience know better than those with less experience is the reason why most jobs require applicants to have some years of experience.
Do you agree or disagree with the statement "Experience is the best Teacher"? Defend your take
Yes, I agree with the statement"Experience is the best teacher". This is because experience is incredibly effective for emotional understanding and retention, but often too costly, dangerous, and inefficient.
Experience is too expensive to take which before you will a person says that he or she has learnt from his or her experience it means the person has had a bad experience before which he or she wouldn't like to repeat. Learning from others allows us to avoid making the same mistake that the person has made in other words it allows us to bypass avoidable failures.
Is learning from mistakes faster or slower than learning from books or a mentor? Share with us your thoughts
To me, I think learning from mistakes is slower and more costly than learning from books or mentors. Learning from books or mentors we can compress decades of someone elses trial and error into a few hours of conversation or reading.
It is seen as the fastest way to acquire a conceptual framework. But learning from mistakes we may have invested a lot and several times in failing, analysing the root cause, and recovering.
How would you balance between learning by experience and listening to someone who has been there?
I would balance between learning by experience and listening to someone who has been there by considering the cost of failure and the timeline of my goal.
I will make use of books and mentors to set my initial direction. Also, I will use my own experience to navigate the terrain which mentorship will give me the theory that I need to excel, and then doing things on my own will give me the memory that I need.
