To be honest

Hello, my dear Steemians, I hope you are all doing well today. I am so glad to be partaking in this contest that was organised by @sahmiec1

To be honest simply means telling the facts, avoiding excuses, avoiding lies, pointing out the truth and choosing between right and wrong within yourself and with others even if it feels uncomfortable.

It's not easy, to be honest, but it's effective and important for a healthy relationship if taken seriously.

Sometimes, it's difficult to speak out facts and say things as they are because we are afraid of the reactions or judgement that come with it. But honesty helps us to grow and brings peace of mind.

I sincerely agree and believe that being honest is costly and it brings pain or regret. I will be saying this based on my own experience.

There was a time I chose to say the truth about something that happened between a friend and me instead of lying, which I know would have kept the peace.

But saying the truth caused a lot of misunderstanding between us, and it hurt her feelings. It really made me feel so guilty even though I knew what I did was the right thing to do.

Being honest always comes with a price, and that price can be hurting people or hurting yourself. Someone said to me that truth is like a sharpened knife that can cut the skin and cause pain, but it also removes what needs to be healed.

I always tried to be honest, and I have felt the pain and regret that comes with making that choice.

I think it's impossible to be honest without hurting people's feelings. Most people do not want to hear the truth about themselves regardless of how you present it.

They can't handle it even though they try. I once tried to be honest with someone I know about a behaviour that was affecting our relationship.

I tried to speak calmly and choose my words carefully, but the person still felt offended and hurt. Instead of understanding what I am trying to say, they will focus on the pain the truth caused, so that was when I realised that being honest does not always protect feelings.

So, I think it's quite difficult, to be honest, without hurting yourself or others. I believe that human emotions are inevitable and cannot be fully controlled.

We are created with feelings, and pain is part of it. Being honest may hurt, but it also brings growth, even if it is hard for both sides.

I have lied several times to protect others from getting hurt and hating me. They look happy, and the situation goes back to being peaceful.

So, I tried to wonder if being honest is actually bad or good.
If I tried to be honest, they'd hate me, and I would keep losing supportive friends, but if I lied, they would surely like me and try to be more supportive.

So because of this, I try to do what brings truth, even if it means hiding the truth away from them. You can't walk this world alone without supportive family and friends.

Being honest every time can lead to having an insecure life, and I am not really ready for that. Sometimes I choose to be silent or tell small lies to protect my relationships with people.

I don't really know if it's okay to keep a secret after realising that it could hurt someone. Every case requires a different approach, and it depends on the situation and consequences of exposing the secret.

Sometimes staying silent without the truth out may protect the person other times the truth may be necessary even if it will cause the person pain.

In conclusion, to be honest is to be confident in the truth and face the consequences that come with it, even when a comforting lie could've been much easier.
