SC-S28/W2-Movie Highlights | Voices Unheard (The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind)

How are you all? There are some movies that you remember once you see them, but some movies make you want to watch them again and again, as if you were entering the characters in that movie and experiencing their lives yourself. The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind is exactly that kind of movie for me. I have seen this movie several times, and each time I felt like I was standing next to William and experiencing the stories of his incredibly difficult days anew.

So friends, let's come today and share a little about this beautiful movie with you. I think you will like it.

The movie is basically about the life of a poor family in Malawi. At the beginning of the movie, it is not just poverty, but an invisible pressure is shown that is holding the entire village. There is a food crisis in every house in the village, and the main reason for this crisis is the negligence of politics and the adverse environment, making the lives of the people very difficult day by day. But even in the midst of this uncertainty, the light in William's eyes made me realise for the first time that this boy's story was going to be different.

While watching the movie, one thing kept going through my head: how many people's stories we don't know. In how many corners of the world are there children who are constantly fighting to survive on their own? Yes, maybe their voices don't reach us. William is the symbol of those silent voices that cannot be spoken, but shine like their own light inside.

There were many moments in the movie where I found similarities with my own life, my own childhood. Especially when William's father cannot let his son go to school, it seemed that many families in our country are still going through the same sorrow. Many people in our society cannot educate their children properly due to a lack of money, and there are some people for whom education is a luxury; this is the reality.

However, one thing that touched me the most was that William never gave up. No matter what happened around him, he held on to his dream with his little books and old tools. Every night, after every failure, he found a light. He never felt like he wanted to be a hero; rather, he just wanted to save his family and the people of the village.

The movie made me understand anew that change doesn't always come with big decisions. Sometimes, a small, brave thought can give a village a new lease of life. When the moment of the wind turbine that William created first started spinning, it felt like I was waiting with bated breath, right? Will the water really come? And when the water did, it felt like my eyes were wet too. In fact, the story and acting were such that they would make you cry.

The biggest stereotype has been broken in this movie: poverty does not mean inability. Society always looks at poor people as if they can't do anything. But William has proven that with knowledge, intelligence and willpower, nothing is impossible.

Every character in the movie is very real, but the one I felt the most for was William's father. His strictness, his fear, his responsibility, all of it made me understand that a father never wants to be bad. Situations change a person's behaviour. His breakdown, doubts, and pride in his child all reminded me of some scenes in my own life.

Finally, the movie gives a big message that hope never fades. A person who has a little light in his heart can find a way out of a thousand darknesses.

The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind is not just a movie; for me, it is a kind of education, a kind of calm power. Every time I watch it, I feel like—not only for ourselves, but also for others, if we want to.
