SLC-S29/W4-“Thinking and Ideas!| Rethinking the Normal

in Steem4Nigeria3 days ago (edited)

How are you all? I hope you are all well. We are so busy every day that we often don’t have the opportunity to think about our own lives. That’s exactly what I felt after reading this thinking and ideas challenge. There are some things that we have accepted as normal for years, but honestly, we need to think about them anew. Today, I want to share my own thoughts on one such topic.

Name one practice, belief, or system that people accept as normal but should be questioned.

In my opinion, being busy all the time means being successful—this belief needs to be questioned the most.

Being busy is seen as a very great quality in our society. If someone runs around with work all day and doesn’t make time for themselves, then we consider them responsible and successful people. Slowing down, resting, or spending time on one’s own time has become the name of laziness. But we often forget the fact that humans are not machines.

Why do you think people rarely challenge it?

People rarely challenge this belief because we are raised with this idea from a young age. We are taught in school, family, society, everywhere that working more is valuable. When everyone around us lives the same way, very few people dare to think that it is wrong. Another big reason is fear. Fear exists. If I walk a little slower, will I fall behind? If I rest, will people not take me seriously? This fear keeps people from asking questions.

What could improve if this “normal” way were changed?

If we could change this “always busy” norm a little, many aspects of life could improve. People will be mentally calm. If work pressure decreases, the quality of work will be better. The opportunity to spend time with family and friends will increase.

The most important thing is that people will have time to listen to their feelings and thoughts. Life will then no longer feel like a burden of responsibility, but rather a place of relief.

What might be lost if it disappeared completely?

However, if this normality is completely lost, then there is a possibility of losing some things. For example, some people may lose their sense of responsibility or interest in work. If everyone only cares about comfort, then some important tasks in society may be hindered.
So I think being busy is not bad. What is bad is making being busy the only measure of success in life.

My Personal Reflection

Personally speaking, I also used to assume that the busier I turned into, the more crucial I turned into. But with time, I found out that if I don't have peace of mind even after running all day, then that busyness is worthless. Now, for me, an achievement manner takes some time for yourself, finding peace of mind, and being capable of enjoying life.

Not all norms are right. Some norms are just old habits that we've conventional with out thinking. Learning to think is step one to exchange, and this task has taught me to do simply that.

Hi @mamun123456, welcome to thinking and ideas week 4

My Observations:

Well, being busy is not a sign of success because I know a few persons who get busy all day, all week but still not successful. You can agree with me that some people could be busy doing nothing, that doesn't also show their success.

The mindset is wrong for me and it shouldn't be used to judge those who are not busy because everyone can't get busy at the same time.
