The Unfinished Path: When the Destination is Within Reach

How are you all my friends? Of course, you are very well and healthy. Sometimes it seems that life is an endless staircase, where we are all trying to climb up, panting. Do you know that signboard that appears in front of our eyes when our legs are tired, and we don't want to walk anymore? “Almost There” or “Almost There”. Hearing these two words creates a strange wave in our minds. It is not only in my case, but in everyone's case. It seems that if we go a little further, we will reach our destination. But that 'little' path seems to be miles and miles long. Even after it ends, it does not end.

When I look at the man in the picture above, I see my reflection. When the shadows lengthen in the late afternoon sun, it seems that the days I have left behind are just as long as those shadows. It seems like the destination is there, a red flag flying proudly. But my shoulder bag seems to be heavier than before. This feeling of 'almost reaching' is actually very personal. It is not just the name of a position; it is an extreme struggle between one's inner stubbornness and external circumstances.

My explanation: Why is it a 'sweet pain' for me?

If I were asked whether this feeling is positive or negative, I would say it is a mixed feeling.

Why is it positive? Because it assures me that I have not walked on the wrong path. My sweat and labour are going to be worthwhile. But at the same time, there is a subtle groan and fear in it. Those words don't say, "Where is the river bank, where is the breath...". What if my feet slip when I get too close to the destination? This is an uncertainty; this is life. But in the end, seeing the distant flag flying, my fatigue turns into a strange peace. So at the end of the day, I see it as a positive.

A strange lesson in patience and persistence

The word "almost" is actually the ultimate test of our patience. When we start a task, we have a lot of enthusiasm. But when we run out of breath halfway through, that's when the real test begins. This 'almost there' moment teaches us that the key to success is not in the beginning, but in the end.

Perseverance means not just working, but taking another step when you feel like giving up. Life shows us that in a 100-mile journey, going 99 miles is not the same as reaching the destination. That last mile determines whether you will be a winner or just a dreamer. Patience is the power that gives you the strength to stand in front of that signboard, take a deep breath, and walk again.

A fragment of my life story: That sleepless night

There have been many moments in my imagination or in reality when I wanted to accept defeat. When I was creating a complex project for the first time, at one point,t it felt like nothing was working in my head anymore. It was three in the morning. My eyes were getting sleepy, and the light from the laptop seemed poisonous. I felt like deleting everything and going to sleep now.

But right then, for some reason, I felt like—I have everything organised, and just writing a few pages will finish the job! That moment was "Almost There" for me. Without closing the laptop, I made a cup of strong tea and sat down again. Those last two hours were the best two hours of my life. When the work was finished, the morning light was shining outside the window. I will never forget the satisfaction of that light. Just as the man in the picture is standing very close to the peak, that day I was also standing at the peak of my own.

We all climb the mountains of our own lives. Some may be chasing a career, some are drawn to relationships. At the end of the day, we all look at that "Almost There" sign. But it's important to remember one thing - it's not all about getting there, it's the struggle before that moment that really makes us who we are.
