Diary Game 20th March 2026||Can we still afford the celebrations??

in Steem4Nigeria18 days ago

I think I’ll start taking long walks in the morning because tell me why everybody knows everybody?? Down to their names and all.
I thought we were all minding our business and drinking water in Nigeria?

But for real, the lovely smiles, helloed greetings floating from one person to another gives me the feeling of camaraderie and takes me back to the time when we were all a community of people interwoven by shared values. You might be wondering why I stepped out this early even with the Eid celebrations, well I went out to get some essentials, and can I tell you that Nigerians are hustlers!!

Commuters moving to and fro, shop owners already displayed their wares, I was in search of my soap as it had finished some days ago. I was headed to restock and praying the shop is opened because I’d need to come back again if they weren’t and judging by how painful the sun has been these days, there was no way I was returning there until late at night.

This is lili- china supermart - as you can see from the picture tour I did above, they are a one story building that sells everything- ranging from drinks to toiletaries, food supplies and what not.
Thankfully , they were at least open when I got there. Sweeping, dusting and cleaning, i headed in and bought what I needed.
Back home i went straight to the birds. Due to the excess heat in the atmosphere, they’ve been drinking a lot of water. This means that at every given point they must have enough cold water. Sometimes too, we need to sprinkle cold water on their body to bring down their body temperature as too much heat can lead to their death.
Here, my nephew and I were doing this task:

Our birds are almost ready for Easter, so it’s a round the clock work because any loss now is money.
Later on in the evening, I was called to come pick up our feed. At the junction I could see people who defied the intense heat just to make an honest living.
I got a biker, decided on a price and headed home, but our bike had a little incident on the way.
The biker and the feed fell down.
Thankfully it wasn’t in a water filled place as that would have rendered the feeds inedible for the birds. Once we got them back on his bike, we continued our journey home.

You can see all sorts of people doing different things just to earn a wage.
As soon as I got home, it was timeout for me. I took a nap and started prepping for my night class!

Today is a wrap, I’ll see you next time!!
