Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 116: My opinion on gender reveal during pregnancy.
Gender reveal is a good thing not a bad one but the motive behind it spells its meaning, either good or bad!
Do you accept gender reveal party? Back up your answers with facts |
|---|
A gender reveal party is sharing your baby’s sex with friends and family in a fun way. Asking if I accept gender reveal parties? Yes, but only when it is safe. Many women enjoy to share such an amazing news especially in a situation where they have longed for that gender for a long time. They believe sharing the news brings them closer to the family and relations, but I see it letting out a cat out of the bag even before the journey had started.
It's not bad to share, but it is safe not to share at all until the appointed time. Well, out of excitement it could be said but should be careful who it is spelled out to, the world is full of evil. We are no longer in the good days.
Do you think everyone should adopt this trend? |
|---|
Do I think everyone should adopt this trend? Not really. We all are different people who come from different families and who believe in different cultures and traditions. Not everyone loves big gatherings, some people love quiet and private celebrations, maybe because they don't want to spend so much or because its just their nature.
A gender reveal is not a requirement for parenthood, it should be something you choose to do willingly, not something you feel forced to do because others are doing it. Some families also feel that too much attention on “boy or girl” promotes stereotypes, so they prefer to wait until birth or forget the reveal altogether.
How safe is this trend considering the society we live in |
|---|
How safe is this trend in the society we live in? Well I think it depends on how people celebrate it. In many communities, noise from large gatherings can be risky. Sometimes you see them fireworks, knockout, or a traditional cannon gun which can disturb neighbors or cause panic and environmental harm.
But gender reveals can be completely safe if people can do it in a sfer way like; cutting a cake, popping balloons, opening a box with colored items. Our society is already dealing with insecurity, pollution, and stress, so it’s important to avoid anything loud, dangerous, or wasteful. The trend itself is not unsafe; the unsafe part comes from people trying to add drama for attention.
Share your general thought on this topic, if possible your kind advice to people who are yet to join this trend |
|---|
My general advice for people who are yet to join this trend is simple; do it only because it makes you happy, don't do because other did it. Don’t follow trends that don’t suit your budget, or comfort. Pregnancy is a personal journey and not a public race, and you deserve peace more than pressure, so choose peace..
If you decide to have a gender reveal, try to keep it small, safe, and meaningful. Avoid risky things, you are not in a competition with anyone. What matters most is the joy you share, the memory you create, and the safety of everyone involved. A baby is already a blessing, so celebrate in a way that shows love, not competition.

My friend Salam! Your post is really thoughtful and I enjoyed read it. You explained topic of gender reveal in a very balanced way. I like how you showed both good and risky side of this trend. Advice which you gave is very meaningful. Many people follow trends without thinking about safety and culture. I totally agree to you, every family is different. They should choose that make them comfortable and happy. You explain everything feel very real and caring. Good luck for contest.
