SC-S31/W1-Movie Magic | Movie About Choices (Titanic)

Life itself it's a journey that presents us with choices. Sometimes in life we are faced with decisions and some of these decisions can turn everything around in our lives and might also affect others.

One movie that I have seen with a single decision that changed everything is "Titanic". And for the this week Steemit challenge, I had to rewatch this movie, the movie has a runtime of approximately 3 hours, an emotional masterpiece and believe me it was worth the time.

The Titanic was the largest luxurious ship ever built. It had everything you can think of that makes life very comfortable.
It had the capacity to convey several persons and tons of goods in each journey. It was the first of its kind, tested, approved and was described as the "unsinkable". But with it's big gigantic nature, it all crashed into the bottom of the sea in less than 3 hours in the course of its first journey.

What single decision in the movie changed everything?

One of the reasons why the titanic crashed which caused loss of lives was ignorance to iceberg warnings, despite the signals received from other ships, but the captain made the decision to keep moving at full speed in other to get to the destination on time and the Titanic ship making the news headlines.

This decision, moving at full speed through the icy waters made the ship not to respond quickly when they finally spotted an iceberg. And in no time the ship came in contact with an iceberg which caused the ship to have openings through which water entered it's chanbers. And slowly titanic went down the bottom of the sea. More than 1500 lives were lost in what was recorded as the deadliest sinking of a ship. The sinking of the Titanic left everyone onboard the ship fighting for survival including Jack & Rose. The evacuation process at a point became chaotic.

The movie Titanic should teach us a lesson as some decisions we make in life have consequences.

What would you have done differently?

If I was the captain, I don't think speeding up the Titanic was really necessary at that point, considering the incoming warnings about iceberg.
Rather navigating slowly and staying focused through the icy waters would have been a better option.

There's a saying that goes like this "Slow and steady wins the race".

Safety is another thing I would prioritize in this case because of the souls that were onboard that ship. But because the titanic was so hyped as the unsinkable and beyond destruction, I guess this was why they neglected the warnings. This was also a lesson to all, that nothing is beyond failure.

Did the character’s choice feel right or wrong to you? And why?

Hmmmm...The captain's decision to speed up wasn't a bad one. It would have set a new record for the ship on its first trip and would have made them arrive their destination on time.

But, they were several warnings about icebergs from other ships, and this warnings were ignored.
Ignoring warning signs have consequences, which makes the decision he took completely a bad one. That one decision caused losses lives, that were onboard and also led to the sinking of the unique, prestigious ship.

One lesson to grab is; sometimes in life we're excessively ambitious, chasing achievements and recognition without considering the risk involved which might have consequences.

The decision taken by the captain to speed up despite receiving several warnings changed everything. In life we need to always think before we act.

I'm inviting @purityy, @jubilcrypt and @ukpono to join in the challenge

This post is very beautiful and thought provoking which best describes important life decisions through the movie Titanic. You present the captain's decision as an important lesson in how overconfidence and the desire for quick success can lead a person to ignore risks, which ultimately leads to harm. Your writing is not only simple and clear, but also reflects deep thought, especially the message that caution and wisdom are essential in life.

Thanks for the comment and taking your time to reflect. Overconfidence really played out here. Even lifeboats on the ship were not even enough because the Titanic was overly hyped as unsinkable. Then the decision taken to speed up really changed their fate. Let's imagine, the ship was moving at that speed before the decision was taken to speed up. Maybe, the force at which the ship crashed with the iceberg, the impact wouldn't have been that much.

Another error here was that the two guys in the crow's nest had no binoculars with them, which made them not to see far. If they had one, they would have seen the iceberg on time.
