My Experience with Neighbours

Having neighbors are one of the reasons God created humanity; imagine living alone without someone to call your neighbor, No wonder the Bible instructed us to love our neighbor as ourselves.

I have neighbors who are very close to me. We interact, care for each other and greet . I have leaved with them for about 11years now. I will tell you an unfortunate thing that happened between one of my neighbors and I.

Describe one memorable experience you have had with a neighbour. Was the experience positive or negative?

Hmmm, I had a negative experience with one of my neighbors, and up till now i am still upset about the incident. I have a shop close to my house one day that my neighbor was passing immediately. She saw me; we exchanged some pleasantries, and she stopped by. We started talking from one gist to another. She asked me about one boy in our street.
I told him what I heard about the boy. Little did I know that she was aware of what happened but wanted me to talk about it.
After we talked about the stuff, she went back and told the boys mother that I said something happened to her son that she should be careful with me. As my God wanted to vindicate me, the boy's mother met me and asked what I said about the son. I was ashamed of myself because I hate such scenarios of you said, and I said to save myself from that shame. I bagged the boy's mother to forgive me and I was happy she did. As for that my neighbor I have put a stop to our friendship because she is not a good person as I thought.

What lesson did you learn from that experience?

I have learned a very big lesson , though I am not a gossip type of person; I am always mindful of people I discuss with , I was thinking she is mature enough to hold on to our talk; I did not know she would want to be a good person in the presence of the boys mother. I have learned to mind my business if someone wants to discuss with me I will be nodding and be smiling until you are tired so that you will not pinpoint what to tell people that I said.

What qualities make a good neighbour in your opinion?

In as much as some people can pretend to hide some traits, there are physical things I see in my neighbors that I can describe as been a good person or neighbor.

• Caring. A good neighbor is one that notices your presence and knows when you are okay or not.

• Respect. When you see neighbors that respect her boundaries. That has because he or she knows when to interfere with your things. That person is a good neighbor.

• Giving helping hands. Your good neighbor is that one who always answers when you need help.

Do you think neighbours are that important? Explain.

I do not believe in leaving an isolated life. I like mingling with my neighbors. As such, their importance can not be overlooked. There was a day that my husband was not around, and I was outside washing some clothes when I turned. I noticed a green snake; I screamed!!! Because I hate the snakes, when my neighbor heard my voice asked, I shouted snake without wasting time; he came with his matches and killed the beast.

In this case, imagine that my neighbor was not on good terms with me. Or I do not have neighbors.

Neighbors are important because they can put eyes on your properties when you are not around. I washed clothes and went out. It rained, and I was afraid that my hard work had been ruined by rain, but I was happy to return, and my clothes were safe with my neighbor.
