Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 117: What I Think About Free Things.
Before diving into the topic of the day, I want to explain what the word "free" means. This is when something is done without expecting a reward or doing something at will.
Do you believe there is No free thing anywhere? Support your answers with claims.
Talking about free things, I believe that there is no free thing anywhere. I say this because I have seen so many people receive something they tag as free, but looking into it, I see that it's not totally free. For instance. Celebrities doing giveaways consider followers who are their core fans; before this could reach them, they must have spent their data and time to comment and support them. As such, the giveaway to me is not totally free; it's their services to those celebrities.
Do you think people actually pay indirectly for any free give they get from anyone?
Yes, people who receive something free indirectly pay with their time, attention, or data, as I said earlier; it may not be money. Let's take this Christmas time as an example, where some prominent people will share some foodstuffs. People will leave whatever they're doing to come and queue up there, thereby wasting time or finances to come take a free thing. To me, there's always a hidden cost for any free thing.
Do you believe there are folks out there giving out stuff without strings attached?
Well, there are, but I still maintain that their giving may not need anything in return; rather, they may do it for popularity or to build their presence among others. Those folks who give without strings attached are rare. In other words, some free things, especially the ones we see in our society today, are just eye-service free giving. They give out things for public sympathy and praise.
Summarize for us your general view about giving and receiving free things.
Giving is good depending on the intentions; there are people who give out something for free and stylishly wait to receive back. Personally, I dislike free things; sometimes they are not good compared to what you spend your money to afford. When someone gives me a free thing, I appreciate it, but it makes me uncomfortable. For example, if my friend gives me something for free, I wouldn't feel good being around her.Again, I don't like when someone is fond of receiving something free. If you are the type that likes free things, I will advise you to refrain from it and look for another thing, because the time and effort you put into receiving a free thing you can use to make something different for yourself.
