Contest: My Activities During the Last Festivities

The festive season has come and gone but the memory will linger, longer in my life. It was a period of happiness and celebration. Quite a number of lessons have been learnt that would shape my thinking in this new year.

I had attended a lot of events. First on the list, was my defense. Thirteenth December, was the day I defended my Master's dissertation before external supervisors. After the defense, I felt relieved and fulfilled.

It was a long awaited day to behold. Out of sixteen of us that started the program, only four of us from my field defended.

It was another opportunity to attend the last Sunday thanksgiving in my church. It is always a moment of happiness to live to see the last Sunday of an old year. Apart from thanksgiving, we had a get-together to strengthen the united of the church.

On the 23rd of December, I attended end year celebration at my father-in-law's place. The gathering of all his sons-in-law, daughters -in-law and his children was amazing. The word of advice and sumptuous meal that characterized the event, was awesome.

Apart from these, I also attended my neighbor:s traditional marriage. Although the distance was long, I had to be there to celebrate with him.

In those events/activities you attended, what were your observations generally?

Yes, there were quite a whole lots of observation. In all these events, I observed that human beings are the greatest assets one could have. When you have an event, the level of your relationship with people, will either make the event successful or not successful. For instance, in my neighbor's traditional marriage that I attended, I tell you, he had a lot of people who came to support and plan the event for him. I was shocked to see that even people from his Neighborhood were more in attendance than those from where he comes from.

I also observed that generally, event brings people together and gives excitement. It strengthens unity.

Was there any lesson or experience?

Positively, I learnt a great lesson. One, it is good to be friendly and sociable. The level of your relationship with people can be of help to you in life. Money is not everything.

Negativity, I discovered that people waste so much of resources during event time. Some even go borrowing, just to satisfy the crowd and at the end, they go into debt. This is what people should be careful of.

Conclusion

Every event one attends has something to learn. We don't just go to event; sometimes to get experience in life and meet people. In all the events and activities I had involved in, during the festive period, it was a time to learn new ways, new ideas and of course, new opportunity to meet the right people.
