Hi Steemit family, today I would like to talk about my favorite fruit. My favorite fruit is watermelon. This juicy and sweet fruit is known to be green on the outer side and red on the inside with seeds seen throughout. It is my favorite because of how nourishing it is to the body. It has a high water content, which helps to keep my body hydrated and boost overall body health. It is packed with nutrients and antioxidants like vitamins A and C.

How much is your favorite fruit?

The price of watermelon varies depending on the size seen in the market. Prices range from 2800 to 3500 naira (20-25 STEEM) or even above. But for people who cannot afford a full watermelon, some fruit vendors cut it into small pieces and sell it at the price range of 200 naira to 500 naira. It's completely affordable.

What are the health benefits of your favorite fruits? Watermelon has rich health benefits, and they include:

  • Hydration/skin health

Staying hydrated is important for the body to function properly. Because watermelon has high water content, it is very hydrating. In hot temperatures, watermelon can help keep the body hydrated. Watermelon contains antioxidants like vitamin C, which aids in collagen production, thereby keeping the skin strong and healthy.

  • Digestive health/Weight management

Watermelon has both water and fiber. Both work together to aid digestion and keep the bowel regular. It also helps to move waste efficiently through the digestive tract. Because of its high water content and fiber, it helps to keep one full, thereby reducing more calorie intake and helping in weight management.

  • Anti-cancer effects

Plant compounds found in watermelon can help to reduce the growth of tumors by promoting the body's process of destroying and removing cancer cells.

  • Heart health

Watermelon contains lycopene, which helps to lower cholesterol and blood pressure. Other vitamins and minerals present in watermelon, like magnesium, potassium, etc., can help the heart and overall health.

  • For Joints and Bones

Watermelon contains a natural pigment called beta-cryptoxanthin, which aids in protecting joints from inflammation, which can further help to protect against arthritis.

Watermelon is a seasonal fruit primarily seen in the months of May to September. And yes, I eat it whenever it is in season and as often as I can get it.
