I still wonder why people see obedience as lack of independence or weakness. Does it now mean we should not obey instructions when given? But we discipline children when they disobey. True obedience requires discipline, wisdom and self-control.

It is the ability to always listen, get clear understanding, and follow guidance when necessary. In families, schools, workplaces, and society, obedience plays an important role in maintaining peace and order, because without it, confusion and conflict can easily arise.

From childhood, we were all taught to obey our elders which has helped us stay safe and receive some blessings from God. A child who obeys instructions is being coached to develop respects and good behaviour. Obedience is the only medium through which rules are followed.

However, obedience is not following instructions blindly, yes, because wise obedience requires understanding the purpose behind the instruction. A person should know the difference between positive guidance and harmful influence. Obedience becomes meaningful when it is connected to trust and respect. In society today, many people love their freedom and forgetting that obedience is required to keep the peace of the society in order. Imagine a place or an organization without obedience, it means trouble, fight, issues everyday. Because everyone would want to show their freedom level.

At the same time, people should not allow obedience to silence their conscience. History has shown that blind obedience can sometimes lead to injustice which has landed some innocent people in prison. Therefore, obedience should be balanced with wisdom and moral understanding.

In conclusion, obedience is not a sign of weakness, it should be noted, but a foundation for growth, order, and harmony. When guided by wisdom and good intentions, obedience becomes a strength that helps individuals and society progress peacefully.
