“Life in my city”

Hello Steemians!

Hope you are all doing fine. I'm glad to be part of this contest, and I thank @ruthjoe for organizing this opportunity. Here is my entry.

So far this year, is there something new in your city you would like to share with us? Fuel increase, price of things, a protest, a robbery, or any other gist.

Living in my city this year has been a mix of “wahala” and little wins. If you’re in Nigeria, you already know the main headline, which is fuel inflation. "Omor," the transport fare has gone up like a rocket. What used to be a simple trip now feels like you’re planning to travel outside the state or country. Even food items in the market are not smiling at all. Rice, beans, bread, and even garri are now very expensive to purchase. But my joy is that everybody is still looking for a way to cope and survive even in this hard economy. The city is still lively, but you can feel the pressure in the air. Still, Nigerians don't carry last; we keep pushing, we keep striving.

Can you say you have made any progress so far this year? Tell us about it.

Talking about progress, I won’t lie, I’m seriously proud of myself. This year, I’ve been more focused on my goals than last year, especially balancing my studies as a student and my side hustle on Steemit. Sincerely, It has not been easy for me, but I’ve learned that consistency is key and to get what you want, you must work hard for it. So even when things are tight, I try to show up, learn something new, and improve myself little by little. That alone is progress for me.

If you have an opportunity of making your city better, what will you do?

If I had the power to make my city a better place, I would start with basic things like good roads, stable electricity, and affordable transport. These are things that will make life easier for everyone. Imagine a city where you don’t have to worry about light or spend half your money on transport. Small changes like these can make a big difference in people's lives. I would also focus on creating more opportunities for young people because honestly, many people just need a chance to make themselves useful in life.

Let's say you are given a choice to decide to leave your city for another city better than your current one and be sponsored, or you are given a huge amount of money to stay back in your city. What will be your choice? And why?

Honestly, this question is the toughest of all and very critical, and to be honest, I would stay. Because with money, I can create comfort anywhere, be it at home or outside the country. My city might not be perfect, but it’s home. The streets, the people, and the vibe are something I can't easily replace. If I have enough money, I can build a better life right here, live a good life, and most importantly, support others as well and even contribute to improving the environment and people around me. Leaving my city might feel like a quick solution, but building where I am is powerful and the right thing to do for my city. Life in my city is not easy, but that doesn't give me reasons to turn my back away from my roots. It only teaches me patience, strength, and hustle. Every day comes with its own story and problems, but that’s what makes it an interesting place to be.

Thank you for your valuable time.

This got me laughing but that's the truth. This present administration has done more harm and funny enough they're warming up for another re-election. Will that be possible? Yes, maybe because the political system is corrupt.

Best way to survive in Nigeria, is minding your own business, setting up strategies to survive and forgetting about the things we can't change.

Thanks for sharing
