Self-control means the ability for me to manage my thoughts, actions, and emotions when I am feeling tempted to do something harmful or wrong to either another person.

I will say again that self-control is the power for me to pause, think, and choose the right action to take instead of acting based on impulse. A perfect example is when someone insulted me and I chose to stay calm rather than fighting the person, which means I have shown self-control.

How do you know someone who has self-control?

I know someone who has self-control through personal behavior and through the following signs.

• The person thinks before acting rather than reacting immediately.

• A person who has self-control over his or her emotions, when frustrated or angry.

• The person avoids harmful habits even when other people are doing them.

• The person stays focused and determined rather than being distracted.

• The person remains calm even under pressure.

Is self-control an inborn behavior or is it earned? Support your answers with facts.

Yes, control is not unborn or it is something that is naturally learned. However, some people are born different where you will get to see some people who are naturally gentle in behaviour and some who are arrogant in behaviour. What matters most is the ability for someone to know how to control his or her temper.

How far can you control yourself in the face of temptation and challenges?

Well, I can't say that I can control myself 100% In the face of temptation because I am a human being who has my own shortcomings.

But I can control myself in the face of temptation by avoiding situations that trigger my behaviour to turn bad, another way is by practicing patience and emotional control, and learning from my past mistakes.
