Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 129: why are mothers more celebrated than fathers
Why do you think women and mothers are more celebrated globally than men?
I think women and mothers are more celebrated globally because of the unique roles they play in shaping society and taking care of families. Mother is seen as the first teacher of a child, caring, sacrificing, loving, and caring for them all through.
It is believed that the responsibility of raising children, managing house chores, and contributing to the well-being of a family is done by women and mothers, and because of these efforts, and others women and mothers are recognised and appreciated for their contributions in the home and the society.
Have you seen any peculiar celebration done in honour of the men in your country? If yes share with us.
Yes, men are also celebrated in Nigeria but the celebration of men is not as loud as that of women and mothers. There is an International Men's Day in Nigeria which is usually on 19 November.
This is a special day that is set aside to recognise the positive contribution of men to their families, communities, and society. Also in my community men are celebrated for their chieftaincy title and political appointments.
Are you satisfied with men not being celebrated globally and do you think men should be included? Give your reasons
I am not satisfied with men not being celebrated globally not because I am a man, but because men ought to be celebrated for their contributions. As women deserve recognition, so also men deserve celebration for the important roles in building families and societies.
I believe that celebrating men can encourage positive masculinity, highlight responsible fatherhood, and promote discussions about their well-being and mental health.
