Report of an Event in my neighbourhood

It is always a pleasure to share what is going on in my surrounding environment with you.

This time around, I want to tell you about a day that government restricted movement of peoples, goods and services, vehicles etc so that everyone can keep his environment clean. It is called Environmental Sanitation Day. It comes up every last Saturday of the month.

In our community, we also use that day to keep the street and the road clean, after which we always have a brief meeting and disperse to our different homes.
The sanitation started about 7:00am (morning) and every compound must have a representative or two. In a compound that only young men are the occupants, they always endeavour to come out en-mass.
It is only men and grown up boys that are used in the work.

If by engagement, a person is not represented in a compound, such compound will do well to send their cash support ranging from 2000 to 5000 Naira (equivalent of 10 to 25 Steem). This has come to stay.

Progress has been recorded with time, because this turn, no gate was knocked for the people to come out, they did it voluntarily without delay. Prior to this event, the youth secretary had sent a reminder messages to all compounds via WhatsApp/SMS.
The Cleaning was so thorough, such that the entire community was covered.

After the Sanitation

Since people were exhausted after the work, the Community leader appreciated everyone and asked all if we sit together and have our usual meeting. Yes! was the answer.

There we did not have a brief meeting but a refreshing one in which bush meats were served with fresh palmwine and few bottles of Guinness Stout for those who don't take palm wine.
There at the meeting, the progress about the powering of the Second transformer that have recently been installed was discussed.
On that note the meeting came to a close at about 11:00am(morning). Everyone departed to their different endeavours.
