SLC-S31/W1-“Creative Interpretation| The Word (Invisible)
A poem inspired by the word invisible
The mirror they say reflects
what stands in front of it
But what if something invisible
Stands on the a reflecting door?
Does pain reflect on the mirror?
Invisible yet so real as touching
Anything we can see and feel
Who can interpret what goes on
In the heart, seating alone and
Looking through,
The reflection of
beauty fades away, turning
Into pain and anxiety.
Days after days she no
Longer wondered
What could be beyond
The reflecting door.
She was no longer willing,
No push, no drive,
Just an unexplainable
Pain in the heart.
Summer and winter came
She stayed put in
Her seating position waiting
By the reflecting door
Oh! who will save her from her self?
The outside world looks busy,
No one notice her absence
Is she now invisible?
She reflects on how she
Once lived a life of affluence,
Travelled to places,
Visited kings in high places,
Fashion melted at her feet,
She was queen of them all
Nothing was too big for her,
Wealth trembled because
She controlled them all,
Now she wondered how
She got here
The pain in her heart,
Speaks of regrets,
What did she do with all
She had?
Explain what “invisible” represents in your interpretation |
|---|
In my interpretation, the word invisible simply means unnoticed! It also means can not be seen either because it's hidden or no longer exposed.
From my poem above we could hear the silent cry of regret of a lady who was once seen every where, she lived life in wealth and influence. But suddenly she was no longer seen, her absence wasn't felt anymore. She became unnoticed.
That poem describes the state of been invisible. A state where someone exist but feels irrelevant or hidden. She wasn't the same person she once was.
Therefore I can specifically say invisible is a state of been helpless due to non recognition although you exist.
Describe the emotion connected to your piece |
|---|
The emotion connected to my piece which is the poem above is that of regrets, pain and sadness.
The poem tells a story of one who has lived life not so well even though she had everything but now regrets everything. She is pained at the outcome of her life.
The way the lady in the picture sat speaks of someone who tired of living, she no longer desires to continue, she withdraws from the world that once gave her joy to her own self to reflect and take stock of her life.
Her hair shows us it's unkept, the beauty she once cherished no longer mattered to her, now she desires something much more than just outward.
And from how she sat, she feels cold needing warmth yet could not reach for it because she no longer cares about what happens to her, she no longer cares about her own health.
If your interpretation had a color or sound, what would it be and why? |

|---|
If my interpretation has a colour it would be colour Grey. For me the colour Grey is a colour that represents Regret and sadness!
The grey colour looks like ashes where everything done amounts to nothing that why regrets sets in at the end of the day.
What better colour to describe the state of regret which the lady in my poem is? She is in a state where she is not just sad but she feels a deep regret for how she lived her life to please others and now she is invisible!
Grey from my interpretation with the picture is a point of exposure. A point where nothing is hidden anymore about life anymore. A point where how she lived her life now flashes right before her eyes, a point where she sees the true nature of people and things she once adored.
If the interpretation had sound it would be a very soft rhythm with a low tempo accompanied by a melody provoking sadness and tears to flow in the eyes of the listeners.

The article made me think of all the people who suffer from depression without anyone noticing; they smile in public but cry in private, simply isolating themselves. Their inner turmoil is so overwhelming that it drags them into the abyss.
