SLC-S29/W4-“Thinking and Ideas!| Rethinking the Normal!”
Assalamu Alaikum,
First of all, I would like to express my sincere gratitude and thanks to the organizer of this thoughtful and exceptional competition, @ninapenda ma'am, for organizing such a challenge. Where not only writing is given the opportunity to express one's thoughts, experiences and logic. This competition teaches us to think anew about the things we have accepted as normal.
Name one practice, belief, or system that people accept as normal but should be questioned. |
|---|
In my opinion, the belief that people have accepted very naturally. But it is definitely worth questioning is that to be successful in life, everyone must follow the same type of education and the same number of successes.
In our society, we are taught from childhood that good results, degrees, jobs and financial stability are the only criteria for success. This idea is so deeply ingrained that anyone who thinks differently is called unrealistically irresponsible or a failure. However, every person's abilities, interests and philosophy of life are different.
Why do you think people rarely challenge it? |
|---|
People rarely challenge this belief. First, social pressure and fear. The fear of what society will say and what family will think prevents people from going beyond conventional ideas.
Secondly, the habitual subordination that has been going on for generations makes it seem safe, anything different means uncertainty.
Thirdly, the institutional structure, education system, job market and social recognition all support this one-way success idea. As a result, people do not learn to question.
What could improve if this “normal” way changed? |
|---|
If this normal idea changes, society can change a lot positively.
Firstly, people will be able to give importance to their true talents and interests. Creativity will increase if everyone does not walk the same path.
Secondly, mental health will improve. Today's youth's despair and self-confidence crisis largely comes from this pressure.
Third, society will be more diverse and humane. Where success does not mean just earnings but also satisfaction and self-identity
What might be lost if it disappeared completely? |
|---|
However, if this conventional idea disappears completely, there is a risk of losing something. Spending a normal time gives many people direction and stability. Without it, some people can become confused or indecisive. This framework plays a supporting role, especially for those who have not found their true purpose. So, in my opinion, the solution is not to completely abolish the old normal but to make it flexible and individualized.
Last word |
|---|
Not everything that is accepted as normal is right. Questioning is the first step in thinking, and thinking is the beginning of change. This challenge has taught me to think anew. Are the things I have accepted as normal actually right for me? I believe that questioning normality builds a better, more conscious and humane society.
I invite some of my friends,

Hi @samima1, welcome to thinking and ideas week 4
It is a belief that has been over time and nothing can be done to it.
