Contest Alert : Self-control
Briefly explain this topic self control to a layman.
Self-control means the ability to controls our thoughts fealings and actions. It means we stop ourselves from doing somethings wrong even when we really wants to do it. For example if we feel angry but we choose to stay calmed that is self-control. If we want to eat too much junk food but we stopped and eat healthy food that is also self-control.In simples words self-control is like a strong inner power that helps us do the right thing at the right times. It helps us avoid mistakes and keeps us on the right paths in life.
How do you know someone that has self-control?
A persons with self-control is usually calm and patients. They do not reacts quickly in anger or sadness. They thinking before they speak or act. For example if someone insults them they do not fight back immediately. Instead they stay quiet or respond politely. Also such people can manage their habits well. They wake up on time complete their work and avoid bad habits. They are focused on their goals and do not get distracted easily. Another sign is that they can say “no” when needed even if others are doing something wrong. These qualities show that a person has good self-control.
Is self-control an inborn behavior or is it learned?
I believe self-control is mostly learned not inborn. Some peoples may naturaly be calmed from childhoods but true self-control develops with time and practice. Children learn self-control from their parents teachers and environment. For example when parents teach a child to wait for their turn or to share things the child slowly learns control. Scientific studies also show that habits and behavior are shaped by experience and learning.Peoples who practice discipline like athletes or students improved their self-control over times. So even if someone does not have strong self-control at the started they can learn it by practicing patiences thinking positively and making good choices again and agains.
How far can you control yourself in the face of temptation and challenges?
In my life i try my best to control myself but i am still learning. Sometimes it is very difficult especially when i feel angry tired or stressed. For example when someone says something hurtful i feel like replying immediately but i try to stay calm and think before speaking. Also when i feel lazy and do not want to complete my work i remind myself of my goals and push myself to finish it.Temptations like using the phone too much or eating unhealthy food are also challenging but i try to set limits.I believe self-control is not about being perfect but about trying again every day.Even small efforts can make a big difference over time.
