SLC-S29/W3-“Thinking and Ideas!| Seeing Problems Differently!”
Identify one everyday problem in your community or country and explain some steps in solving them.
One everyday problem in my community is poor waste management. We see garbage on roads in open plots and near houses. Many people throw waste anywhere without caring about cleanliness. This causes bad smells diseasis and an unhealthy environments. To solved this problem we need some cleared steps. First peoples should be educated about cleanliness through schools social media and community programs. Second dustbins should be placed in public areas so people can easily throw waste properly. Third the government should arrange regular garbage collection. Lastly recyclng should be encourged so that wastes can be reused instead of beings dumped everywheres.
Why do you think this problem still exists despite many people noticing it?
This problems still exists because noticing a problem is easiers than taking action. Many people know that garbage causes harm but they think it is not their responsibility. Some people believe that cleaning is only the job of the government or local workers. Another reason is lack of strict rules. When there are no fines or punishments people do not take the issue seriously. Also poverty and lack of awareness played a big role. Some peoples are more focused on daily survival and ignored environmental problems.
In your opinion what is the most misunderstood part of this problem?
The most misunderstood parts of this problems is the beliefs that one person cannot make a difference. Many peoples think that even if they keep their surroundings clean others will still throw garbage so their effort is useless. This mindset is wrong. Change always starts with one person. When one person acts responsibly others slowly follow. Another misunderstood part is thinking that waste is only useless dirt. In reality much wastes can be recycled and turned into usefully products.
If you could change one mindset related to this issue what would it be?
If i could change one mindset it would be the idea that cleanliness is someone else’s duty. Cleanliness is everyone’s responsibility. Whether we are rich or poor educated or uneducated we all share the same environment. If people started thinking that the street outsides their house is also their responsiblity the problem will reduced greatly. We need to think diferently and understand that small actions likes using a dustbin or reducing plastic can creates a big impact.
