INTRODUCTION

Its no news that Nigeria has been on the global stage recently for the wrong reason as a result of the terrorism that has been carried out by this Islamic extremist in the Northern part of Nigeria.

what we see today, started as a small crack, that was handled with kids glove in 2009 by our leaders and when they try to eradicate them completely by hiring mercenaries from outside country after the chibok girls Saga.... The Northern Muslims made it look like they were trying to kill there people because the sitting president back then, Goodluck Jonathan was a Christian.

Now, it has blown on our face to a hydra headed monster that has many groups in the Northern part of Nigeria, responsible for killings, banditry, kidnapping and all sort of social vices you can think off..

To get a broader view of this whole crisis, we must look at how it all began, how it expanded, and how it has shaped the daily lives of ordinary people.

The Human & Community Reality (Northern Nigeria’s Pain)

When insecurity is been talked about in Nigeria, many people outside the country, imagine something far away or maybe in the bush. Even the real gist is hidden under big vocabularies like banditry or insurgency. But behind those vocabularies are human lives been snatched from the surfaced of the earth everyday and fear in the eyes of this northerners.

Sometimes, when I hear of the insecurity in the norths, I get flashbacks of how things use to be during the militancy era back here in the Niger Delta region. When our parents stay awake all night not because they have any reasonable thing doing but because even a sound of a falling bucket can cause serious panic and everyone lived on high alert.

Now imagine living like, everyday is going to be your last and raising kids in such condition, where nightfall doesn’t mean rest but it means danger. As a result of the incessant gunshots, kids now can now tell the different between sound of AK-47 and a GPMG before they can even spell there own names not because they want to but because that is the life they were forced to grow in. This is the story for many villages that resides in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa.

There are villages in Zamfara and katsina states where bandits walk in freely, like landlords checking rent. you see the same villagers been slaughtered coming out to welcome and take pictures with them like some heroes, whenever they come out from their hiding place to negotiate with some of this communities heads, all because they want to plant crops on their own land without being killed.

(Residents hails bandits and take pictures with them)

We have seen local government chairmen even attend wedding ceremony of the bandits after the peace pact. Then you sit and ask yourself, does this guys even want this crime to ever end in their region at all or do they believe in the course of this Islamic extremists??

Terrorist come out in broad daylight with faces open, doing giveaway on TikTok live, flaunting the cash they got from kidnapped victims on our face, yet the government can't track them but let a citizen criticized the government and watch the same people using every apparatus at their disposal to drag you out from whatever hole you are hiding.

The middle belt in the north, is not exempted from all this. Their own violence has taken the shape of a slow, silent genocide most especially in communities where they are predominantly Christians.

Any conquered territory were they have displaced and kill people, you see this extremists mount there flags boldly announcing a new “ownership,” while the government watches helplessly. The Morales of the soldiers are down because those in power and high ranking officers keep playing with their lives. Recently, a brigadier general was executed publicly on social media , after giving out his location to his fellow soldiers in the barracks for help.

What about the kidnapping of the school kids in Kebbi state. Soldiers were mounting guards protecting this students, then out of the blues, they received a call to leave their location. As soon as they left, the terrorist attacked same day , whisking away the school girls and leaving several people dead. Till date, we don't know, who called of the soldiers from their location.

Benue State is the food basket of the nation, but now the citizens go to farm like soldiers going to war because you might get killed by those armed Fulani herdsmen who carry their cow grazing all over people's crop. Let me shock you, one of this farmers killed this armed Fulani herdsmen on self defence. As we speak, he has been sentenced to death for protecting his life.

Bomb blast was a big deal years back in Nigeria but today, these events barely move anyone. Nigerians have become numb. Pain has become normal. But despite all this, the people of the north are still striving to stay alive and make earns means.

In my next post, I'll be sharing more incite about the state of the nation... So, stay tuned..

As far as I understand, this situation has been going on for quite some time... In the past, I would have said: then get together and do something about it! Well... Today, we also have some unpleasant developments here – even if I don't want to compare them to your problems. What I mean is: there's nothing we can do about it. A system that is distant from its citizens always protects itself effectively. I tried rebellion for a long time. Then evasion. And now...?

The guy who even tried to protect himself right now from one of those Fulani herdsmen that tried to kill him , is now facing a death sentence...

Right now, is the American senate that is putting pressure for him to be free...
