My Neighborhood Watch #124 - Reporting Events Around us: My sister's unforgettable wedding
White wedding |
|---|
On November 1st, was a memorable day in the Clinton Bamson's family. The day my kid sister was getting married to her heart throb. Sincerely speaking or should I say writing.., it was one of the most beautiful moments I’ve witnessed in a long time.
The white wedding was quite different from the traditional pattern in Nigeria, where weddings are often held in a church, the pastor comes on the pulpit to give his sermons and we all leave. On the contrary, the wedding took place in a beautiful garden and it was given this foreign Vibes straight out of the movies.
The wedding settings looked like something you can only imagine in your dreams: the soft pastel blossoms of pink and white surrounding the stage, giving it this fairytale appearance. The place was filled so much joy that it felt like even the weather was smiling on us, we didn't record any drop of rainfall.
The groom's family were all dressed in orange colour and the bride's family wore green. Her bridesmaids wore beautiful pink designs and the men on suit were looking sharp.
Reception |
|---|
After the white wedding, all road was leading to the reception ground. The hall decorations was colourful and elegant. In fact, whoever decorated the hall, did a perfect job. At some point, I started thinking it was @soulfuldreamer and her crew from Pakistan that decorated the place.
From the laughter that floated through the air to the graceful steps on the dance floor performed by the bride and groom at the entire event, the wedding was everything love should look like. Even the blind could see the glow in their faces, not just because of the flawless make up, suit and beautiful gown but because of the calm happiness that radiated from them. The kind that comes when you know you have finally found the right person and your heart has found a resting place.
But beyond the laughter, music, dancing and celebration, there were moments in the wedding that felt deeply special to me and I will say one of them was when our dad danced with his daughter. My dad has been suffering from arthritis around his waist and legs region but ever since we informed him about the father and daughter dance, he became determined to be part of it .
He started doing exercise, by walking distance, climbing staircase and getting frequent body massage. All this just to keep him fit for the wedding. When he got his alone time to walk her down the aisle to hand her over to her husband and also dance with her, it was perfect. It was an emotional sight for every one.
Another remarkable but quiet moments that touched everyone was when our eldest sister was called out to speak as the mother of the bride. She made a profound statement that really hit deep especially for those who knew our mum. She said'
“I wish mummy was present to witness today"
For a second, I could almost feel her presence with us, smiling from heaven as she watched her daughter tie the knot. After that brief moment of sadness, the joy n celebration continued
After party |
|---|
The wedding was in three batches. The white wedding, the reception and the after party. The after party was the bomb. It was all Dance! Dance! Dance!!! and several games. At some point, there was a dancing challenge between the bride's maid and the groom's men. I won in my own part. I didn't know I still have it in me. Thank God, I wasn't drunk, they were some dancing steps I did, I thought I was going to fall down. I did it with faith...lol. Overall, the bride's maid won.
At the end of everything, as a family, we took some pictures and had some alone moments with her.
To my beautiful baby sister Boma, may this new phase of your life be filled with laughter, peace and every bit of happiness..
Happy Marriage Life Mr and Mrs Egbor
