WHAT A PROUD MOMENT AS MY STUDENTS EXCEL IN WAEC FOOD AND NUTRITION PRACTICAL 2026
INTRODUCTION
Practical examination in food and nutrition requires proper planning, timely preparation, more creativity and above all time management. Before my students sat for their WAEC food and nutrition practical examination, I carefully guided them on how to properly organize a beautiful and successful cocktail party according to WAEC standards of 2026 practical examination
Let me explain what a cocktail party is:
A cocktail party simply involves serving finger foods and refreshing drinks in an attractive and organized manner to a group of people like WAEC students after their final examination.
How I divided my students into groups:
To ensure effective participation I had to divide all my students into two groups and assigned different dishes to each group while also teaching them a proper planning techniques, dry and wet store identification, and modern WAEC time -plan arrangements
For group one , I asked them to prepare the following dishes:

Before they started the practical examination, I taught them how to differentiate between dry store and wet store. Let me throw more light on this part.
DRY STORE:
This has to do with all the non-perishable items we bought in the market that concerns the respective dish.
e.g flour, sugar, margarine, vegetable oils, sugar, baking powder etc.
WET STORE:
What do I mean by Mini time plan?
A mini time plan is a scattered time plan during the period of the practical let's say cleaning and preparation requires 20 minutes, preparation of dish 1 requires 30 minutes if you check out the time you will understand that there is no consistency in the time.
Explanation of modern WAEC time planning
I explain to them what WAEC required now is consistency in time lets say 30 minutes interval for each of the activities followed by a clean up process or 1hour- interval planning.
Student performance during the practical:
My students performed excellently during the practical examination. They demonstrated good cooking skills, proper hygiene, teamwork, and effective time management. Both groups successfully prepared their dishes, cake, and refreshing drinks according to WAEC standards and served the examiner. I personally I had to share remaining food to all of them.
My Conclusion/ Appreciation
My students practical examination was done successfully and impressively from the onset to the last. I appreciate the school management, parents, and everyone who contributed to the success of my students examination. I also commend the students for their hard work and dedication for believing in what I taught them and putting those lessons into a practical Examination.
