SLC-S29/W3-“Thinking and Ideas!| Seeing Problems Differently!”
Identify one everyday problem in your community or country and explain some steps in solving it.
An Everyday Problem: Insecurity
Insecurity is the everyday problem in many communities in northern Nigeria and some parts of the country. Insecurity has caused more harm than good in my community and it has manifested as personal, economic, and social insecurity. Currently, in my community, a lot of people feel unsafe walking alone at night, going to the farm, worry about job stability, and experience anxiety about their future.
Step to solve insecurity:
Strengthen community policing: This will be done by increasing police presence and community engagement to make residents feel safer and foster trust between citizens and law enforcement.
Economic Development: This can help to solve the problem when jobs are created to engage the citizens and support businesses.
Education and Awareness: by promoting mental health awareness and providing resources for emotional support to help individuals cope with feelings of insecurity.
Why do you think this problem still exists despite many people noticing it?
To my understanding, I think the problem of insecurity exists because many of these issues of insecurity are deeply rooted in systemic problems like corruption, inequality, and lack of resources. Changing requires sustained effort over time and sometimes priorities shift away from security or resources are limited.
In your opinion, what is the most misunderstood part of this problem?
A common misunderstanding is that insecurity is purely about physical safety. While in reality it also includes emotional and economic aspects. A gallant person or security personnel may appear confident to confront insecurity but still feel insecure inside due to societal pressure or personal experience.
If you could change one mindset related to this issue, what would it be?
If I could change one mindset related to insecurity is would be believing that insecurity is solely individual or insurmountable. Instead, I would go ahead and promote the idea that insecurity is a collective issue that can be addressed through community effort, empathy, and proactive policies.

Hi @woka-happiness, welcome to thinking and ideas week 3
Insecurity has left everyone troubled in the country, and even our so called securities are part of it. They help these men achieve their goals so I don't think strengthening them would do any good. The government is corrupt and bad, until they are wiped away, we'll sure be living in fear.
