Lavender is a natural insect repellent

in Steem-Agro13 hours ago

Lavender is a kind of plant that can easily thrive in our gardens provided that there is no compaction in the soil. When it is dry outside, we see many flies and moths near our outside kitchen doors. Both of these insects really don't like the smell of lavender at all. And the oil in the flowers is very unpleasant to them. Most creepy crawling insect colonies also don't like the smell. It's like a natural repellent.

So lavender does act as a type of barrier against fleas although it does not guarantee you won't get the insects coming but it adds as an extra measure of protection.

I passed by a bush this morning and I touched a few of the lavenders I saw there. The scent was on my hand for quite a while.
The Mosquito populations are rampant at this time of year so planting these things close to your window is much better than using those horrible scented aerosol insecticides.

Sometimes your plants will die from lack of attention. I should have given my plant a different type of watering last week. The pests can be very persistent because like all living things, there's a strive for survival even if it means destroying what you do.

I personally like the smell of lavender and for most that do too, it'll add to the pleasant fragrance of the place in any event. A lot don't even know that lavender is a natural repellent to mosquitoes.

Only flies that feed on refuse will visit a bush. Most of the leaves will bring out a good amount of oil when you squeeze them together.
