Pick and Write [Agricultural Word]👉#15
Pick and Write | Environment
We already know that agriculture is one of the biggest sources of deforestation and habitat destruction globally.
To plant new crops, farmers clear new forests, which ends us up losing plants and destroying animal habitats. This is a conscious decision made by agriculture and it is an unfortunate reality of modern farming.
Agriculture pulls more water than any other industry, and yet it is one of the biggest polluters of water in the world. The chemicals used to farm crops poison the water and kill the fish in the same water used by people. This has sadly not been a high enough priority for most governments to change.
Agriculture is responsible for greenhouse gas emissions and the global climate crisis we're suffering today. As the planet increass in temperature, farmers become more and more affected by natural disasters like floods and droughts. The farming systems we put in place have created the problems, but little to nothing has been done to change it.
Some farmers have started to plant trees and have begun to adopt more sustainable farming methods. Because of this, the agricultural industry is little by little starting to recognize the necessary practices of farming, but another sad thing is that, these innovative approaches are not yet widespread across the farming industry, so you can see just how low the expectations have been.
Agriculture has created a long history of feeding the world while at the same time destroying it field by field. New farming methods are being used to improve the standards for farming but the resistance to change the old systems is still there.
Agribusiness is destructive not just because it is indifferent to the environment, but because it depends on using the environment in a way that causes problems to sustain it. A long enough abuse of the soil and no crops will grow, a water supply sufficiently contaminated and nothing will remain to irrigate. The industry is busy sawing the very branch on which it is perched and calling this productive.
Globally adopted food production methods are making the world a harder place to feed. The situation is not impending and I also think that the industry self correcting without any external influence is not a workable strategy at all.
I hope we see what you're doing to the environment and start using new methods of farming otherwise it's just a matter of time and we won't have both a good environment and sustainable farming.

🎉 Congratulations!
