Which sunflower seed can grow into a sunflower

I wondered if the sunflower seeds that we eat can sprout into sunflowers. But it's a simple question and a simple answer. When given the right conditions any seed can sprout. But in the case of the sunflower seeds they can be roasted and eaten as snacks. If the seeds are processed, roasted, or cooked, they will not sprout. The heat kills the seeds inner life, which means you can plant them, but still will not get anything.

This is why BBQ flavored sunflower seeds will not sprout. Those seeds are cooked which means they are dried and cannot sprout.

With a bag of raw, unprocessed sunflower seeds, you have a good chance of them sprouting. Bird seed usually contains raw sunflower seeds, which is why you may see sunflowers popping up under bird feeders. The birds drop some seeds and the rain does the rest and suddenly you have a bright yellow sunflower growing in the yard.

It's great to see how such a small thing like a seed can turn into something incredible. If given the chance, a few snacks or bird seeds can turn into really tall flowers. I really do appreciate the small things. Even the simple act of planting a food scrap or something from the trash, can be really cool to do.
