Animal Activities #72
Behind our house, there is the place where the wooden board of our back deck was. One sunny day when I was standing outside, I noticed something stuck in the board. It was a tiny moth and it was stuck in a gap and could not fly away or crawl off. I decided that it was my duty to take the insect from there.
I picked up a stick nearby, went close and slowly lowered it towards the creature. At the start, it stayed still, but soon it held on to the stick I was holding and got to the top. As soon as I took the moth out of the place, it rested on the stick for a second and then it flew away as if it felt free.
It did not fly far away though. It settled on my skirt and stayed there for a couple of minutes. The little thing sat quietly on it and was not trying to fly off. Not to scare the insect, I moved as carefully as possible. It was very nice to watch it sitting on me so quietly. My mom came to see what was going on and laughed at me saying that the insect is definitely thanking me. Indeed, that was the most beautiful feeling ever. A tiny insect was saved and it stayed with me for some moments after. It sat quietly and seemed free after what happened.
I still wonder how really cute it all was. I did not have any plan to save a moth in the morning, but it behaved so nicely. First, it was stuck in the deck, then I saved it, took it from danger. After that it sat still for some time and thanked me with the way it was behaving. It was such a lovely feeling.
My mom was smiling all the time at that and I enjoyed every minute of that experience. The little creature was saved and it looked like it was happy with its new state.
