It is now time to plant my ginger

Just like planting every other crops, planting ginger undergo the same process. Those processes are done to prepare the soil for proper planting. I cleared the bush; also recall that I fertilized the soil by pouring poultry manures on the land. After tilling the soil, I engaged in watering the soil. I watered the soil so that the manures would decompose properly. I did the watering because the rains has not started yet t. Of course, planting would not take place without tilling the soil which I also showed.

Having gone through those stages showed in my previous posts, it is now time to plant my ginger properly. The rain is now starting gradually and farmers have now started going into the farm for planting. Iam now into my farm to plant my ginger.

I sourced and bought some of the ginger that I am planting from my friend who is also a ginger farmer. The rest of the other ginger I am planting, I sourced them from the market closer to me.

As we currently we in the planting season, the price has increased so much. This is because ginger is in high demand. While most of the farmers are now planting their ginger, few are being taken to the market. So the prices are soaring high every day.

To begin with, I started cutting the ginger as directed and supervised by my friend who is guiding me. I cut it based on looking out for the points of rhizomes or fingers that will germinate. I did this one after the other until I finished cutting the ginger their right sizes.

I did not plant all the gingers at the same time. I first planted the ones I got from my friend. After planting it, it was not enough. More portions of the land were not covered with this quantity of ginger gotten from my friend. This prompted me to source for more ginger to cover the remaining portions of the land.

I waited for some time for the rain to begin before I complete the portion of land left. Just as the rain is setting in, I rushed into the market to get the remaining ginger. This time, I did not need to irrigate the land and did want to waste time to plant it as the ground is already wet for the planting.

Just as I cut the previous ginger as helped by my friend, I had to cut this one myself as I have learnt how to cut it. I followed the same planting method. This has to do with the spacing, and the deep of the soil. I followed every bit of the instruction given by my ginger farmer friend to plant.

Having covered the portion of land I mapped out for it, the journey has not ended. I will now be waiting for another stage which is weeding. Weeds will definitely grow and I have to make necessary preparations for it.

I'm also making plans to add more manure to the farm. It would be the same poultry manure but this time, I will wait for the ginger to start growing before doing it.

It has been a wonderful experience coming to this stage. Farming requires a lot to make it rewarding. Ginger is also requiring the same efforts to make it a rewarding venture. I would be making more posts as i make more progress in my ginger farm.
