One of the most challenging tasks that farmers face is what I would refer to as the infestation of weeds in their farm. Whether you like it or not , weeds must grow..They even grow faster and well than plants in the farm.
A soil where weeds grow may be assumed that crops will also do well there. But this is not the case. Wouldn't it amaze you? Just like this portion of the land been cleared, the weeds will even grow fast again than crops been planted.
After planting crops in the farm, the next plan of the farmer is to start getting prepared for weeding. The land may be large that the farmer may cover all the weeding alone. This is the case if it is farming for business. This will require a huge amount of money to get laborers to do the work. The farmer just like me, may decide to do it alone if it were small portions of land.
What Is Weed?
When I was in my secondary school days, we were taught that weeds are plants that grow where they are not wanted. But I have some reservations about this. From this definition, is plant considered as weed just because of where it is been planted or planted in a wrong place? Does it means that even though a plant is grown outside the portion of land it is supposed to be planted, then it would be regarded as weeds?
For me, I don't think that weed should be considered as plants that grow where they are not wanted. But in one perspective, the definition is right. I partly agree with this opinion because, every weed is a plant but, not all plants are weeds.
Since every weed is a plant, the question to ask now is, how useful could that plant be to human? This would now mean that every useful weed automatically a plant. It goes further to imply that every plant that are not useful to human, could be regarded as weeds.
Now, rather than focusing on where a plant is, the focus should be on how useful the plant could be to us as humans. To this point, I would be defining weed as plants which are are not beneficial to human in all its form. So useful plants could be found even where they are not supposed to be planted.
From my picture show in this post, it could be seen that this type of plants called weeds, are totally useless. They are totally useless because it does carry any economic or health benefits it adds to us.
Weeds are very serious enemies to farmers that farmers frowns at. If the weeds are completely left in an a farm without removing them, the farmer would have nothing to harvest. The weeds will would just compete away the crops being planted in the farm.
When the weeds are removed from the farm, the planted crops will be free to absorb more nutrients from the soil and grow well Infract, weeds are poisonous that they they outgrow the crops been planted by the farmer
So from time to time, it is important we remove weeds from our farm. When this is done, we will have a better chances of harvesting.
