Animals play an important role in agriculture. Donkey is one of the farm animals that have helped farmers greatly in transporting their farm produces. I have known donkeys right from childhood days for having the strength to carry heavy loads. Their strength has made them a very useful farm animal that help the farmer in several ways.

• Donkeys are used to pull ploughs, an important farm tool for soil tilling and preparing the soil for planting to promote a better yield.

• They have great endurance to travel long distance with loads and dont get tired, which helps the farmer transport large and heavy farm products to non motorable areas like in rural areas.

• Donkeys are also used in securing the farm they have instinct to dictate when a predator is nearby to proctect the farm and other livestock, they are also good companion to the farmer and other farm animals when they bond and understand each other

Maintainance of Donkey
Donkeys are cost-effective in maintaining, unlike some other farm animals. They are easy to take care of, compared to their benefits to the farmer
So they should not be left unattended to.

• Their body should be taken care of always by brushing out the dirt on them.

• Routin vetinary checks, vaccine given and they should be monitored to know when they are sick.

• They should have a conducive shealter

• They should be given their appropriate deit of pasture grass or hay.

• They should have enough water to drink at all time

Donkeys are of great use on the farm and need to be taken care of, to ensure they are healthy to play their role, and contribute to agricultural productivity.

Unique qualities of Donkeys

• Donkeys are intelligent and coutious animals
• Donkeys are independent in nature
• Donkeys have been known over time for strength and endurance

Understanding a donkey is essential for those who tend to have one on their farm because donkeys could be misunderstood to be stubborn. Donkeys work with their instinct and coutious of their environment. In that case, they will not move if they feel the environment is not safe and would be misunderstood to be stubborn for not moving.

Also donkeys as i said earlier are human/farmer's companion but if they don't bond or have connection with the farmer, they tend not to work well together. Which is also interpreted as the donkey been stubborn.

Donkeys do not like to be treated harshly. Rather, they work effectively when being praised.
