Organic agriculture is a form of production agriculture; this type of agriculture involves producing the products through natural means without the use of artificial chemicals such as artificial fertilisers, pesticides, herbicides or GM. It improves good soils, ecological balance and biodiversity. Organic farming is natural agriculture compared to abusing the nature.
And also soil health is one of the major tenets of organic farming. The farmers employ the use of compost, animal manure, crop rotation and again cover crops to enhance the fertility of the soil. The good soil also leads to robust pests and disease resistant plants. When managing pests like beneficial insects, organic farmers strike to the factual techniques of managing the pests like the assortment of crops, biological management in contrast to the employment of chemical pesticides.
Organic food is believed to be healthier because there are no chemical wastes on the food that has had adverse impacts. Many consumers are likely to purchase organic fruits, vegetables, meat, and dairy products because they think organic products are safer and greener foods. The raised livestock is not subjected to the common antibiotics and growth hormones and the livestock raised in this way is normally given freedom to roam in the open.
The other important aspect of organic farming is the security of the environment. It reduces the water contamination, improves the soil structure and reduces the greenhouse emissions. Organic farming is the help in the conservation of such pollinators as bees and butterflies which are the key to richness of food production since synthetic chemicals are avoided.
Although organic food is very expensive especially when compared to the traditional food that is cultivated in the fields, the majority of individuals have felt that it is worth the good. Organic farming helps in farming sustainability and improvement of long term food security. It also adopts sustainable agriculture that will sustain the natural resources to the next generations.
In conclusion, organic farming is not just a farming practice, but a health, sustainability and stewardship practice. Farmers and the consumers have a chance to make the world healthier and safer by choosing organic.
