Picked and Wrote on Marketing

Marketing is a make or break stage of any business. Believe it or not, agriculture is business. Anyone that just loves the farm and wants to grow stuff but is not interested in understanding business probably shouldn't try selling, you could run at a loss so easily.

If you want to create a sustainable agro business, you'll need a good and also sustainable way to market your crops. This is a reason why some farmers don't even make it to more than 2 years in the agro business.

We need money to get more seeds, or fertilizer and all the resources, the bills and payments that will be made to sustain the farm. That's why every part of what makes your agro business thrive should not be played with. Nowadays, the easiest, cheapest and best way to market your farm produce is on social media. That's something I see a lot of farmers take advantage of these days.

If you go on TikTok and search for any crop, you'll see someone has posted something about it. 9 out of 10 times, that someone is a farmer. Social media is such that if you make the right videos for the right audience, you could get so much attention to what you're doing. I think that targeted posting is the best way to go because if your intention is to get more customers to order your crops, maybe because you pitched them as being fresh and delicious, you'll need to get an audience that actually has access to your crops. Meaning, they probably should be in your country, and you should have already set up a delivery system.

Speaking of delivery systems, it's getting common these days with motor riders transporting goods to households.

If you do the marketing right and you actually have good crops, you're almost bound to succeed with an agro business. You don't need to become TikTok famous, you just need the right few audience that actually want what you have.

Now marketing is not just to individual customers, it is done to the market vendors that'll sell your crops at retail value, the companies and the government itself. I didn't want to talk about presentation and packaging because the word I picked was marketing, but if you want your crops to be attractive to customers, marketing is not enough, it is how you market which we've talked about and what you're marketing. If the product looks good, the customer tries it and it doesn't disappoint, you've won.
