Pick and Write [Agricultural Word]👉#13
For my pick and write entry, I choose the word Packaging
To me packing food after months or even years of growing it on the farm is not something that should be done very quickly and carelessly. When I used to help my grandfather on his small farm, we lost some of the tomatoes because the sacks we used were old and dirty. When we picked the tomatoes, they looked good, but before we even got to the roadside, some of the tomatoes started to smell.
How you pack food from the farm is very important, and it can determine whether the food turns bad. I remember not enough space in the truck, and one of the guys decided to sit on this big pan we had with some garden eggs. When we got down some of the garden eggs were broken and leaky, and nobody wanted to buy them. A waste of all the resources we had used to grow those particular garden eggs.
I also know that most food seems to change when it is left in the sun and that is something very obvious. There was a time we left some pepper in a black rubber bowl, and it was in the sun and it got very soft. Since then I have not used rubber black bowls for such food. I know not everyone might care, but I remember we used a basket that had sand and old leaves in it as some sort of a container to put food, and nobody cleaned it. Customers were not happy with the dirt in the food, and it made us look very irresponsible. The way you pack the car is something that a lot of people know, but they don’t care.
I've seen some maize go bad because of the very tight packing. It's understandable to try and move fast to pack, but I've seen the consequences, and it leaves me shaking my head. It's hard to grow food, and even harder to lose it.

🎉 Congratulations!
