The process that is used by farmers, or land surveyors to analyse a sample of soil to determine its nutrient content, texture, pH level, and other physical and chemical properties is known as soil testing. The purpose of soil testing is to help identify whether the soil is suitable for planting or construction.


What is the importance of soil Testing?

The importance of soil testing is not only limited to farming but also for construction.

  • Optimizes plant growth: Soil testing helps farmers, surveyor or anyone interested in a land to know the nutrient levels of the land.

  • Under-fertilisation or prevents over-fertilization: Soil testing helps to guide and recommend the proper fertilizer that is to be used.

  • Maintain soil health: Regularly testing the soil helps one to monitor changes in soil quality over time, promoting sustainable land management.

  • Identify texture and Soil pH: Understanding soil composition and Soil pH can help one to modify the condition of a soil for specific crops or construction.

  • Informs land use decision: the proper testing of soil provides both farmers and the government with the essential data for farming, gardening, landscaping, and construction planning.
