The wise tortoise. It is believed that the tortoise is the wisest animal despite how small it is. In the land of Akpata, there lived a wealthy man who loved keeping pets and domestic animals at home.

Among all his animals he was looking for the one to trust the most, and the rewards for anyone who becomes the most trusted will be given the largest amount of food and placed in good conditions. All the animals in his premises began trying to be nice to the wealthy man for the benefits they would get.

His dogs, came together and came up with their own strategy to win his heart which whenever the wealthy man returned from work or entered his gate the dogs would run towards him and begin to jump on his leg, barking, playing, and doing all sorts of things to show how loyal they were.

Goats, hens, cats, and other animals came up with their own strategy, and still, the wealthy man was not satisfied with their behaviour towards him. While all the animals were busy displaying for the wealthy, the tortoise was confused about what to do, since it could not run or walk faster like every other animal.

One evening, the wealthy walk towards his garden and satdown on a chair drinking and taking in fresh air without noticing the presence of a tortoise around him. As he satdown on a chair tortoise crawled and stopped at his front which the wealthy crossed his leg on the tortoise.

Crossing its leg on the tortoise, the tortoise didn't shake or cream, nor di, nor did it move its shell. The wealthy man didn't notice that his legs were placed on a tortoise shell until the tortoise began robbing his feets that he noticed and awarded the tortoise.
