Basic Knowledge in Agriculture #75
Hello, friends welcome to my post in which I have discussed "Basic Knowledge in Agriculture 75" as part of my participation in this contest organized by @hive-118902
Explain in detail the term Harvesting
In a very short word, I would say that Harvesting is the stage of reaping the fruits of labor after months or years of farming. It is the practice whereby farmers harvest their crops that are due to be eaten.
Most farmers feel happier during the harvesting period especially when their farm yields very well. To this, I will also say that harvesting is the practice of removing, uprooting, bringing out, or digging mature crops from the ground for eating, storage, or selling.
Those who farm for family consumption, don't sell their harvested farm products instead their harvested and eat them and if the farm produce are many their preserve some of them which in agriculture such methods of storing farm products is known as farm storage.
A farmer whose motive is to harvest his or her farm products and sell them usually harvests and sells them immediately or stores them and sells them later in the future for a higher price.
What is the importance of Harvesting in Agriculture?
Harvesting is very important in agriculture, and some of the important aspects that I know are:
Harvesting prevents mature crops such as yams, cassava, maize, potatoes etc from spoiling.
Harvesting increases farmer income
Harvesting gives farmers more food. That is increasing farm storage.
Harvesting gives space for other farm products to grow.
Harvesting provides companies, the industry, and households with raw materials and food.
