As the goats move together to look for food on their own, Karl was exceptional. He understood the danger of leaving the farm without the Master. He also knew that was a stingy selfish master that didn't care what the goats ate, only whose fat enough to be killed this week.
He took it upon himself that every single time the goats would go out in their numbers looking for food, he would climb up a hill and be on the lookout. The other goats didn't see the point, they told him, if a beast comes, we will run so you're just doing a useless job.
Karl knew how fast the beast was, he remembered his late father how goat ripped into pieces of meat by a hungry Jaguar. The Jaguar had no mercy, there was almost no remains of the father. He learned from that experience, you can't take any chance with predators outside. They called him paranoid and didn't give him any value or respect on the group for his security work. The plan was simple, he notices a predator from afar, he starts scream Bah! Bah! to alert everyone and give them a chance to escape.
The day came when the lazy and careless Master over the goats was asleep as usual, not looking after the goats. They decided it's time to move out and look for food. Karl also as usual would take the high hills, aggressively looking into the woods to make sure the goats are secured. They scoffed, they mocked, they insulted but that old Jaguar remembered where he had killed a goat and decided it's time to go back to the good old hunting grounds.
Karl was the first to see the Jaguar, he screamed Bah! one time and it came to him that shouting was only going to make the beast know there are goats around. Smart Karl quickly run down and told his friends amongst the group to believe him he just say a predator, not just any predator, the villain of his childhood trauma, the murderer of his father, that old Jaguar was back.
About half of the goats didn't believe him and thought he was only pulling a prank so the group would respect him. But the goat he loved and wanted to be with actually believed him. Karl together with his friends and loved ones decided to run back to the Master. The Master is lazy but will do what's necessary to save his livestock, that they knew.
On their way back they heard a lot of screaming, Bah!Bah!Bah!. They looked behind and the saw the others running in the same direction. The Jaguar had killed one of the goats like it did to Karl's father.
The rest returned back to the Master. From then on, they decided to listen to Karl, made him their leader, give him extra food and respect.
He became the GOAT.
