SLC-S31/W5-“Creative Interpretation| The Emotion -“Jealousy”

in Steem-Agro20 hours ago

How are you all? I hope you are doing very well. It feels really good to be able to participate in this beautiful, creative competition on Steemit again today. This week's topic is “jealousy”. A feeling inside people that we often don't admit to our mouths, but it is hidden in some corner of our hearts.

Today's post is a little more emotional for me. Because the picture I am writing about was drawn by my eldest daughter. When I was telling her that the topic of this week's competition was jealousy, she imagined and drew these two characters in her own way. A small picture, but every time I looked at the picture, I felt something new. It seems that children often understand things very easily that we adults don't even have time to understand.

The Creative Piece: The Shadow of Comparison

To me, envy has never seemed like a completely bad feeling. Rather, it is a shadow that is silently born inside people. No one may understand it from the outside, but it keeps moving people inside.

Two characters are seen in the picture. They look almost the same, but still, there is an invisible distance between them. The older character seems more confident, and the younger character has a kind of silent question in his eyes.

I was looking at the picture and thinking, maybe the younger character is comparing himself to the older one. Maybe he is thinking to himself, "Why can't I be like him?" And this is where envy may start.

Many times, we start to feel the imperfections of our own lives more when we see the happiness, success, or talent of others. Then the light of others is so much caught in our eyes that we no longer see our own inner light. To me, envy is exactly that—an attempt to compare ourselves to someone else by forgetting ourselves.

The horns in the picture also seemed very meaningful to me. As if they symbolised the discomfort or invisible pressure accumulated inside the mind. Even if there is colourful beauty on the outside, if there is unrest inside, then that beauty gradually fades.

Present jealousy from an unusual or unexpected angle

We usually see jealousy negatively. But I found another side of jealousy in this picture. Here, jealousy is not just anger towards someone, but also a kind of secret desire to be like someone.

The smaller character is trying to be like the bigger one. Maybe he doesn't hate him, but rather wants to reach his place. I think that jealousy is often born from our own feelings of incompleteness. When we think that we are not enough yet, a kind of restlessness arises inside when we see someone else.

What triggers this emotion in your piece?

For me, the main reason for jealousy in this picture is “comparison”. Even though the two characters are almost the same, there are small differences between them. And people usually feel those differences more.

This happens in real life, too. When we see someone around us who has gone a little further, is getting a little more praise, or has achieved something better than us, we feel pressure inside our minds without even realising it. That feeling gradually turns into jealousy.

Does your interpretation show jealousy as destructive, protective, or transformative?

Personally, I think that jealousy is not completely destructive. It often helps people change.

Because after jealousy comes, two paths open up before people. One is to break yourself from within, and the other is to try to improve yourself by turning that feeling into strength.

In the eyes of the small character in the film, I saw not only suffering, but also a desire. As if he was trying to say, “One day I too will be able to do it.”

And perhaps this is where the most human side of jealousy is hidden.

Finally, I would like to say one thing: human feelings are not always black and white. Many emotions have both good and bad sides. This little drawing by my daughter taught me that jealousy is not really a feeling of losing someone else, but can sometimes be the beginning of finding yourself.
