“Redefining the Meaning of Christmas”

When I was younger, I thought of Christmas as just a day to enjoy fried rice and chicken, have a drink, and go out for fun. I viewed it as a time to visit friends, wear new clothes, style my hair, and have all the fun I could.

However, I must say that Christmas means much more than that. Being grown up without true maturity is pointless; one can only claim to be mature when their reasoning is clear, when they start to see things differently than they did as a child.

My understanding of maturity has shown me what Christmas truly represents. It is a time of love, care, happiness, joy, and celebration. But how can one truly be happy and rejoice alone? How can you enjoy a meal by yourself while ignoring your neighbor? You may buy new hair, clothes, and shoes, but what about your family, friends, and neighbors who are struggling to have at least a meal?

Someone asked me, "What did you eat for Christmas today?" I replied that I had the usual meal. He got angry and questioned why I chose the regular instead of something special.

I told him that for me, Christmas isn't just about the special foods we make for one day; it's about the difference you make in people's lives. The memories you create are what people will remember.

Have you considered making someone smile or giving hope to someone? Christmas is a time to remember, to share, to love, and to celebrate joyfully. I wish I had realized this sooner; I could have made a bigger impact on more lives.

"Wisdom, they say, is profitable to direct!" Seek wisdom today and reconsider your actions. Let someone remember you for something good. Let someone speak kindly of you instead of cursing you. Let someone smile because of your actions. It's never too late to give; we are still in the season. Think of someone today and give them a call to show that someone truly cares.

Invite people to join you and your family for a meal, no matter how small; show love! See Christmas as more than just cooking, partying, and having fun; it goes much deeper than that. I love love, and I am thankful for the chance to share it.
