When we neglect agriculture, we starve the future!
Agriculture is the foundation of human life. Looking at every meal we eat, no matter how small, comes from the land. When we wake up in the morning and eat rice, bread, vegetables, or fruits, we are enjoying the result of farming. Yet, despite its importance, agriculture is often neglected. When we ignore agriculture today, we are silently starving the future.
Neglecting agriculture means reducing attention to farming, farmers, and food production. Many young people see farming as hard work with little reward. Governments also focus more on oil, technology, and office jobs, while agriculture is left behind. As a result, fewer people are willing to work on the land, and food production continues to decline.
When agriculture is neglected, food becomes scarce. Scarcity leads to high food prices, hunger, and malnutrition. Families struggle to afford basic meals, and children suffer the most. A future where food is not available or affordable is a dangerous one. Without enough food, people cannot grow, learn, or work effectively. Hunger weakens the body and the mind.
Another effect of neglecting agriculture is unemployment. Agriculture has the power to employ millions of people, especially youths. From planting and harvesting to processing and selling, farming creates many opportunities. When this sector is ignored, jobs are lost, and poverty increases. A future without strong agriculture will have more hungry and jobless people.
Neglecting agriculture also affects national development. Countries that depend heavily on imported food spend large amounts of money buying what they could produce themselves. This weakens the economy and makes nations vulnerable during crises. If the future generation cannot feed itself, independence becomes meaningless.
Caring for agriculture means investing in farmers, improving farming tools, and encouraging young people to see farming as a respectable and profitable career. It also means protecting the land and using it wisely so it can continue to produce food for many years.
In conclusion, agriculture is not just about farming; it is about survival. When we neglect agriculture, we are not only creating hunger today but also destroying tomorrow’s hope. To secure the future, we must value the land, support farmers, and treat agriculture as a priority. Feeding the future begins with the choices we make today.
