Animal Activities #70
In a busy village that is filled with the noise of cars and crowded markets, there lived a dark dog called Tom. Tom had no owner and no home for him to always pass the night, but everyone in the neighbourhood knew him as a kind dog. There is a food vendor who usually throws some scraps of food to Tom.
People like playing with Tom. There is a newspaper seller, a grandpa James who follows every morning around the village. Grandpa James was weak and walked slowly with a stick, but Tom stayed close beside him like a faithful guard.
One afternoon, Grandpa Musa became very sick while returning home. He suddenly collapsed near a quiet road. People who have been passing through the road, passed by without noticing him because the area was noisy and crowded.
Tom barked several times loudly, running towards nearby shops and back to Grandpa James. Some people ignored him, but he refused to stop. A young woman finally noticed Ton's strange behaviour and followed him.
As she followed him, she saw the old man lying on the ground, and she then quickly called for help. Soon other people gathered around and Grandpa James was taken to a nearby hospital. The doctor later said that if help had arrived much later, the old man might not have survived.
From that day the news of Tom's loyalty spread through the village. People who once ignored the stray Tom began caring for Tom. The woman began giving Tom food daily and providing shelter for him. That was how Tom moved from homeless to home.
