Do you want to be valuable in life? Or do you want to remain valuable? . Do you wish to climb the ladder of success? Then you need to pay attention to the things I want to share with you today.

I have discovered that in life people don't just rise suddenly or succeed by mistake. It was a conscious effort made. Success can be predicted just like failure too can be predicted. There are some characters that success people have and I have decided to put some of them together into laws.

Law 1: Start from the base

Starting from the base is the first law to get to the top. Have you tried to throw a stone up ? You will notice you first pull your hands down to be able to throw the stone upwards. Meaning before the stone goes up, it needed to go down to gather momentum. If you try to throw the stone up without moving your hands down, the stone thrown won't go far upwards.

This is a lesson we must lesson that in other to go up, you will have to start from the base. Start doing the small things others avoid in your place of work or even in your home. You are not foolish, you are developing the right character for growth.

Law 2: Strive to do things Excellently

Excellence is a commodity. Make a decision not to do things halfhardly. No matter how small what you are doing is, do it well. Don't do things anyhow. Don't finish doing something and another person is called upon to come and redo what you did. That doesn't show excellence.

Excellence is a spirit but it first begins as an attitude. Develop the attitude and the spirit of excellence comes upon you. When you start doing things Excellently, it distinguishes you no matter where you are, that how it takes you to the top.

Law 3: Take the lead and always go the extra mile

Taking the lead is not always easy talk more of going the extra mile. There are people that would feel that they are using you when you are always going the extra mile for them, but don't let lt bother you, you are doing the right thing.

In our todays world, many people shy away from work, most of them stop at what is assigned to them to do. So when they see you doing extra, they feel you are doing too much and start to call you names not knowing they are blowing your trumpet for the top. Soon you will be recognized and honoured.

Law 4: Learn something New Every day

Learning is not an easy task talk more of doing it every day. If you want to remain relevant in this time and age, then you must learn everyday. That's how you become a leader and move to the top.

Learning something new everyday means you must be teachable and see life as a classroom. As you learn your mind is been fed information that keeps you ahead. You may never know when such information will be needed or required.

Law 5: Put Problem solving above making money

I know that money is important and everyone needs money but guess what? There are places money is not required.

When your priority is money any time you come across people that needs your help, you have failed. You might get the money that moment but you lost some valuable which is connection, recommendation and so on.

Learn to solve people's problem without asking them to pay you. Here in the city where I live(Lagos), you hardly see people genuinely helping you without asking for money. One time I was with a friend in his car and the car had battery issues and suddenly stopped moving at the middle of the road.

He came out from the car and didn't know what else to do, some guys approached us saying we should give them some money and they will help us push the car out from the road. They didn't even ask what was wrong with the car, their concern was the money.

Just as he was about to agree, a guy walked up to us and asked if we needed help. He checked the car and said it was battery, he told us to wait, he crossed over and got a battery, put it into the car and the car started then he removed his battery.

When he was done he told us to go, I was shocked and then I obliged to give him money and he refused. My friend collected his contact and we left.

Few weeks later there was an opportunity that came out and my friend told me he wants to recommend that guy that helped us. That was how he was given the job in a big firm. Now imagine if he put money first, he will get it but that would have been all he would get from us.
